I'm traumatised!

Imagine this :!: :!:
There I was last night, stretched out on the settee watching TV, with my cat, Tommy, fast asleep on my knee. We were both feeling very relaxed when I happened to look down, and there was the biggest spider I've ever seen running right across my chest :!:   It was one of those huge spiders with eyes on the end of stalks, and there it was on my chest  Ugh :!: :!:

With my arthritic knees, it often takes me a while to get up off the settee, but I've never moved so fast in my life :!: I shot up, and poor Tommy landed on the floor with a bump, looking totally bewildered. But before I could catch it, the spider disappeared under the settee, so today I daren't sit there in case it returns. I'm traumatised

O.M.G. Oh Joan, how completely, throughly and utterly horrid. You poor thing, I am so sorry. I too hate those things with a vengeance. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

There were two more in the kitchen this morning, but I managed to catch them and put them outside. Apparently, it's been a good year for spiders with the cool summer, but now they're coming inside for shelter before the winter. I never kill them, but try to catch them with a glass and then put them outside. It was just the shock of it running across me :!: I don't think Tommy was too impressed either :!:0

Just popped in for a couple of minutes and laughed at your predicament, poor spider!
I have spent the last few decades catching spiders for my OH and daughter, a swift snatch up and throw them outside seems to mollify the ladies. The house spider is a hunter, just not very good at staying away from the ladies!0 -
You try to catch them? I don't. We had a few coming in then with the warm weather they toddled out again so I guess they will soon re-appear. We have another flock of ladybirds in the bedroom. They are clustered here and there like little bunches of grapes. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

It's that time of year. Hubby and I were sitting on the sofa when something caught our eye a couple of nights ago too. Cue us looking slowly round and see this spider casually walking along the wall.
They are moving in, we have seen loads of them. I don't mind them as long as they stay in the corners. Just don't expect to share my personal space and you will live mr spider!!
Time to get the conkers out in a bowl, they do a fairly reasonable job of keeping them at arms length._______________________

I like em, Janet hates em. We've been getting some decent sized ones indoors again these past couple of days. I'm fact I think there is one under a glass in the kitchen waiting for yours truly to be vertical long enough to release him outside. Janet was brave enough to place the glass over him.. That's quite an achievement as she's terrified of them. Ra can't be bothered with them, Cleo used to eat them, apart from the legs, not enough meat I assume, lol..
You should have rung Rehab Joan. He would have been knocking at your door before you finished saying the word chest
Someone else mentioned conkers to Janet.. I can't see it myself but worth a try I suppose.

I was just being polite using the word chest
Thank God it didn't disappear down my top or I really would have been traumatised :!:

Thanks for the information, but I'm not leaving them alone on my chest :shock:0 -
oh joan, I think I would have moved fast too (and that for me would be a first
)
What you need are conkers....I heard it on the radio that you leave then in the corner of rooms to stop them coming in. (now not sure if this works)
perhaps you may need to make a necklace with them for the future
I hope it doesn't return, they are just sooooo fast and scary. You poor thing, oh and your poor cat, hope he is ok.

She'll need a good scrub to get the touch of a spider off.
