Right here the story so far from the big mental room they call Didcot power station.
HR formally written to company Doctor with regards ill health retirement.
I am booked into see him on the 18th and my wife is coming with me on the day.
Now if he says no HR have said they will go down capability route and fire me for taking to much sick.
If he says no then I will appeal not sure of the time frame here but I would imagine I could be out on my ear in the new year, but as I said I don’t know, has anyone on here been dismissed under capability if so how long did it take.
One last thing, I am still struggling in as things stand but is there any point to me even being here, is it making my case weaker for keep turning up?, any views on this guys and galls.

    Hi Mell

I'm going through final review atm, although it has been delayed a little as I'm on the redeployment register for a few weeks, it's just to tick the boxes so that they can have the meeting and then do the deed. When I saw my manager and HR, they said the report would take 4weeks to compile, then to set up the meeting with the panel, so approx 6-7 weeks in total.quite quick I thought. I am also applying for ill health retirement which my consultant supports, however the good old AT*S who decide on behalf of N*S can still say no or tier 1 pension. But I know I will have no job by xmas. They will give me 6 weeks notice, so 6weeks full pay and accrued hols as my 'pay off'. It'll be the pension bit that I will have to fight for, I'm sure.

I turn up for all my meetings, it does not have bearing on any of the decisions made, they know how ill I am,

I hope the dr sees sense for you Mell, tbh, I am finding that losing my job a bit of a relief. But I have been treated well which I know is not the case for you. I am going to do a 'day in the life of me' to help dr understand how my life is for me now.

Good luck for the 18th October Mell

Thanks all, well the company doc has 4 reports from specialists but apparently he thinks they are below him he makes the dicission on his own, he has an attitude so thy say so I guess I'll probably bomb out on it, oddly though my GP seemed up beat last time I saw him, he says there's rules and my situation is such I should get retired.
I get advice from all corners some say just stay off work others say keep going in I don't know what to do, I'f I had to choose I'd go for keep coming in as staying off is kind of copping out and admitting your only interested in getting as much out of them as you can in the way of days off.

It does seems to be commonplace for people who have been off for long term illness / sickness etc to see the company doctor when it looks like they will need to leave work through ill health.

We have had this a couple of times with colleagues (for different reasons to yours), and they did see Occupational health, our company doctor and eventually signed off and retired due to ill health.

Can't remember the time scales, but in our case, it was to make sure we had done everything we could to help them come back to work.

I hope it goes well for you Mell, sometimes these doctors need to see the whole picture, not just what's in a report. I hope he sees sense and agrees with your wishes.
