Hi everyone, I was due to have my medical for dla on 12th october. I have just received a phone call from the dla letting me know that the medical has been cancelled and a decision about my dla will be in the post. Doe this mean that my dla claim has been declined? and if so what next? i have a bad feeling about this and am now feeling so down

Hi Kay..
Seems a bit unfair of them to book you in for a medical and then cancel with a decision in the post..It may not be bad news, it could be that they have recieved some information from gp/consultant and have decided that they no longer require you to have the medical..
If it is bad news then you can appeal, but get in touch with CAB and let them help you..
Did they not say why they cancelled the appointment?xxTracyxx0 -
No they wouldn't say why it has been cancelled. We don't have a cab near us. Do u know if they would help over the phone.0

Yes i think they can, they have given me advice over the phone at the moment to help with my ESA appeal..
I am sure someone has said that they have used another organisation called DIAL, which specialises in disabilities etc..

Ok thanks for the advice xx0

Kay if it is declined l really would think the fact that they should have and did not see you would be grounds for appeal.
I would hope they are going to award it to you and if they don't get in touch with CAB and get some advice.
I would think they oudl help you over teh telephone if they have no branch near you.
Love

Thanks Toni that's very helpful. I don't feel as down about it now. I will just wait for the decision in the post. Xx0

Yes do appeal if they have turned you down.
Its true this may not have been the case. The letter should come quite quickly, do let us all know how you get on.
Try not to stress too much (easier said than done i know!!)
Take care.xxClare xx0 -
HI
I think id be positive till the letter comes....It sounds as bit to me as if theyve had more information and maybe, just maybe they will have judged in your favour...If not like the others say its good grounds for an appeal if info didnt get there in time before they cancelled....
Chin up!!

I think I agree with elainesbadknee and hopefully they have got more information that is in your favour and have decided a medical is not needed.
I have my fingers crossed for you that you do get it.

Well I had my decision today and dla has been declined cos apparently I can walk ok, dress ok, wash my self and stand and cook. I am fuming. And if this wasn't bad enough I am having a bad flare up and am due to have a hysterectomy next week.0

Kay
Im really sorry this decision came back not in your favour, I had hoped it would have been in your favour. Your flare too plus surgery next week must be making things very uncomfortable for you.
I hope if you decide to appeal they can see that information that should have been forwarded has been omitted....

Thanks Elaine, I have requested that they look at the decision again and also asked if I can have a medical too. I gave them further info so we shall see what happens now. Xx0

I am so sorry this has not come through for you this time. What component are you applying for? They are clamping down but, I fear, at the expense of the genuine claimants. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Good on you for getting onto them right away, taking the bull by the horns. I cant think why they wouldnt let you attend a medical if they wanted that in the first instance but with ATOS and government so often what they decide/say doesnt make sense. Hope to hear updates from you on this.....

I am really cross on your behalf.....the decsion could have been quite different had they given you the medical.
