Stiff and sore shoulder

I was just wondering if anyone of our fellow OA sufferers have had any stiffness and soreness in their shoulders?
I ask this as my left shoulder has been generally aching, with some stiffness, and from my point of view a slight reduction in it's range of movement for about this past two to three weeks and I can't think of anything that may have contributed to it. Note: I have OA in my hands, knees and feet, and really want to add my shoulder to the list ... lol
I'd keep my fingers crossed it isn't OA except I can't cross them anymore ... lol

Hi Scozzie,
I don't have OA I've got PA but share with you tremendous pain in my shoulder  I'm due to have an operation to remove bone spurs and clean out the shoulder joint on 19th of Oct, and quite frankly it can't come quick enough!.
What pain meds are you on? Can you go back to see your GP and ask for something stronger? Also wearing a sling really helps me, you can pick them up in b**ts or ask your GP if they can organise one for you. Meanwhile heat packs or ice whichever works for you and try to rest, difficult I know when you're in so much pain, you have my sympathies.
Thinking of you. X'grá agus solas'

Thanks Poppy, I hope the 19th comes along quickly for you and with immediate success.
I'm on cocos 8/500 and/or 30/500 (when needed), as well as just being allowed back on ibuprofen. Fortunately, I don't have severe pain in my shoulder, but I do know it's there. Thought I must have hurt it when I first noticed it, but can't remember doing anything to cause it!
I've got a follow up appointment with the rheumy in about five weeks time, so if it's still bothering me then I'll ask him - but if it gets worse I'll head into the docs again!
Cheers

Just for clarification I'm talking about the ball and socket part of the shoulder, not the shoulder blade.
My wife massaged my shoulder about an hour ago, and the hot spots were at the back and around the clavicle - not front where most of the soreness appears to be emanating from.0 -
Hi Scozzie,
As long as you can get some relief painwise with either painkillers or massage that is a very good thing.
I'm on tramadols and if it gets very bad oromorph (liquid morphine) I had an operation on the same shoulder joint 4 years ago, but the damage done by PA is now so bad I have a huge lump (bone spur) on the collar bone and the socket is sort of stuck, I cannot move my arm up at all.
Not long to go till the operation now though, and I've got a lot of other joints affected by PA too unfortunately so I'm not constantly thinking about it hope you get some relief from your pain, see the GP if it gets worse though. X'grá agus solas'

You can bet your bottom dollar scozzie, if it's a joint it's been mentioned on here. We often get aches and pains in joints we are not expecting, and sometimes it's due to the fact we are not using 'established' affected joints properly so that throws the others around it out of kilter. If this shoulder is on the same side as your affected hand then that could be an explanation. I hope things feel easier today. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Thanks for the replies, I have OA in both hands, both knees and both feet and recently had a recurrence of tendonitis in my right wrist, although not to the same extent as in May, plus the new tendonitis came after my left shoulder started aching.
The soreness in my shoulder is no worse than anywhere else ... lol ... just thought I'd ask. Plus it does click it I rotate it.
Cheers

How horrrible you have another pain to add to the list :???: Scozzie
I do get pain too at times and mine is there too sometimes (yes l sometimes get it under my shoulder blades but am convinced that is muscular)
Rubbed in anti-inflams and heat might help??

Oh dear, keep up with the dullers and try what frog suggests too - it's cold and damp here and that doesn't help OA-ers either. Rest as much as you can bear, scozzie, and let's hope it all eases. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
