I was at a meeting of AC recently, and, was talking about the AC Forum generally. The person I was talking to was quite upset, hence, I asked her why...she said her cat had been diagnosed with Arthritis. She asked if there was anything on the Forum re animals/pets, I said, often people make general comments..she followed asking if a section would be possible. I have asked Web-Manager, he suggest I take it to a poll of forum members. I would be grateful for your responses. Thank you. Compositor

    hi Compositor

an actual forum i am not sure we do need cus we are good at answering that kind of post on the existing forums..... it might be needed i guess but ae do have questions about animals and we do answer where ever they crop up.

i would feel isolated if i had to use a different forum about the employers or lodgers to be honest..... i see where your coming from but your lady is free to ask on the existing forums and we would all give as much help as we can.

the other thing is i don't think, at the moment, enough people with arthritic animals here to make a separate forum function properly.....

i do see where your coming from but i think the existing ones they are so welcome to post on if they wish to.

nice to see you by the way. Cris x

Hello compositior, how goes things with you? It's an interesting question and I have been thinking about this off and on this afternoon. My conclusion? I am with skezier on this one, I think the animal side of things is adequately dealt with by those who have them and those who like them. I hope the lady who asked the question will consider joining us, there are plenty of pet-equipped people on here! DD

    Hi,

My beloved dog has recently been diagnosed with the dreaded disease and although there are prob lots of us in same situation I am don't think a separate forum is the answer. I got a lot of support and advice from LWA forum, I tend to use that as don't have enough time to check all different ones. Maybe just make sure the word pets in capitals was in the topic. X

I'm with the others. I don't see the point. people can talk about their arthritic pets here and be welcomed and understood. It's not as if all pets are the same - big/small, outdoor/indoor, etc etc. Treatments are going to be vastly different.

I can't believe it to be honest! There are probably dozens of pet forums out there.

Being the owner of several critters, I would find it useful - if for no other reason than it gets you to 'the spot' quickly without having to trawl through all sorts of other stuff.

Yes as someone else has said there are a lot of pet forums out there but have you ever visited them? They are either peopled by children or seriously serious specialists without a scrap of humanity or for that matter animality.

Yeah, but this is a forum for human beings. How often does one need to post about your pets with arthritis for goodness sake? You might as well ask why there isn't a section for human health conditions on an animal forum. If you want to get to a post quickly, use the search facility.

None of us are experts in animal care, I suspect, and you just might be better off talking to a vet. If someone wants to post on the chit chat forum, I expect they will get replies.

    Hi,

Firstly, let me please thank you for letting me put this poll/topic/thread on the forum, and, Secondly, thanks to those who have taken the time out to read it. I meantioned to the lady that I had put this on the forum, she was pleased that it had been sanctioned...she is actually a member of AC who looks into the forum on a regular basis. Although there is mixed views, of which we anticipated, with differing views...she was viewing it from an arthritic view point, and, which has been expressed, there is limited scope for a topic section to develope, so, decided to leave the poll for a full 14 days, and, not a month. Thanks for your participation. Compositor xx

Sadly my dog died last October it was such a sad time she was 20 years old. I dont she would have got any benefit from a forum for dogs or pets.
Problem is she could not type arthritis of the paws you see.

I think perhaps this Lady should start her own web site
AC covers a lot of stuff and whilst its sad that animals suffer i dont think its for AC to take this on.

Sorry to hear about your dog Colin, it's so sad to lose a pet.

My cat (she's still young and arthritis hasn't got to her yet) is brilliant at typing. In fact, she can manage the whole keyboard at once as well as following the mouse.

    Hi all,

Thanks for anyone that did put comments re this thread...it is clearly obvious that it's a No No. I do appreciate other peoples opinions, it was put on at the request of a member of AC, after asking Web-Manager, it was decided to ask the members of the Forum. I think the members have spoken clearly, and, thank you. Compositor. x
