It’d depend who I was advising. I’d advise….
1. …newly diagnosed that it’s not all bad. There will be good times as well as bad. Make the most of the good.
2. …the not newly diagnosed not to keep looking back. Look for the good in where you are & use your energy (such as it is) to create more of it.
3. …everyone with arthritis to find a passion that’s compatible. Anything that gets you absorbed. (Cricket’s the best though!)
4. …families and friends of arthritics to listen and to talk. You really don’t know what or when your arthritic loved one can do but equally their pain can act as a barrier to them understanding how it affects you too. Keep the communications lines open.
5. …people who publicise arthritis – with much reluctance - to concentrate on the young and glamorous. Old/middle aged person has arthritis is not news and will grab no-one’s attention. Good-looking young person pole-axed by it is and might. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

What a fabulous answer from sticky. My advice would be not to concentrate on it. It is what it is, it isn't what it isn't, don't make it what it can't be. All the fretting and worry in the world ain't gonna change matters. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Sticky that was a great response, said it way better than i would lol.. I was trying to think of the words to say and my brain is in blonde mode this morning
DD your right too..
No point fretting over what might or might not be..Take each day as it comes and aim to do things that put a smile on your face no matter how small it may be.." A smile a day keeps the frowns away "xxTracyxx0 -
there are some great answers.
i would say you do have to live with the ups and downs .you might have to plan a little more. but it not the end of the world it not your whole life when things are bad find ways to distract your self computer games or reading for me. exercise as and when you can it does help but most of all talk to people life is not over it is just different valval0 -
What great answers, and thanks for letting us know. I've asked himself to add the button to our website.
My advice would be to find out as much as you can. When I was first diagnosed (in the mists etc) the consultant said don't spend any money on anything offering to cure arthritis, that was pretty good too.
Best wishes for all arthritics today and lets hope by next year we do have a cure ~ or some good pain control.0 -
good advice from all, from newly diagnosed and feeling alot more positive, thanks guys n gals0
