Flu jab reaction?

Hello peeps
I know that Stickywicket started a thread on this recently but can't find it easily so apologies for starting another one.
Just curious to know if anyone else with RA has found the flu jab has a sudden and dramatic effect on their joints (not in a good way)?
This has happened to me two years running now so I feel it can't be a coincidence. I had my flu jab yesterday morning and, although I felt pretty rough generally last night, I couldn't put my finger on it and didn't even consider that the flu jab could have had any kind of an effect so soon. But this morning, I started to seize, from top to toe, almost moment by moment. I knew from many past experiences exactly what was happening and exactly what I needed to do to prevent total immobility (literally) within a few hours. Thankfully, 12 hours and 25mg pred later I am just marginally stiffer than normal and I am so glad I have learned over the years to act fast, rather than just wait and see what happens.
I have had flu jabs for years and never had a problem until last year when they added the swine flu vaccine to the "normal stuff" so just wonder if there is a connection.
Right, off to climb the walls and start the nightime floor pacing which normally accompanies this dose of pred - and hopefully a swift reduction over the next few days back down to my usual, more manageable 5mg.

I was just having a quick glance before shooting off to bed when I saw this, Tilly. My thread can't be too far away and lots of people took different angles on it. For myself, I wasn't saying it caused a flare. With me it was bad colds that followed & consequent breathing problems. I still don't believe the jabs caused them but, I guess, when on DMARDS, if you're unwittingly harbouring something nasty when you get the jab.....
One thing I've always found though is that whenever my temperature's gone up, for whatever reason, the joints have joined the party.
I must say I had the original (solo) swine fever jab and absolutely nothing happened. I did have one of my 'dos' after the combined one last year. I'm now booked in for this year's but I'll be taking my temp first.
Good luck with the pred reduction. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks.
Sorry for starting another thread rather than finding Sticky's original. Not like me Don't want to make people repeat what has already been said.
Sorry, really shouldn't be posting at the moment.

Oh Tilly
How vile but so glad you have a trick up your sleeve to counter the problem before it happens.
Would be good if there was 'somewhere' we could go for statistics on this other than our own informal persoanl experience.
Love and hugs to you (missing you ) posting)

Tilly, of course you should be posting unless you don’t feel up to it. I’ve bumped up my original thread in case it’s of help. Hope you’re feeling a bit better today. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hello tillytop, it's lovely to hear from you even tho it's not for a nice reason. I hope you are feeling better/brighter today and that the reaction is easing. I am thinking of you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
