Hi all,

I've had funny lines on my fingernails for years. Lately though, they've got worse. My left thumb nail has got really raised lines on it but every other nail has them too, just not as bad.
Anyone else have this?

    Hi Magenta,
I've had these as well, they sometimes peel. I haven't a clue what they are though.
    Hope you are well

    Hi Vonski,

I'm ok-could be better! I've had these ridges for ages but they just seem worse these days-even my hubby has commented on them. Not had them peeling though

PS Hope YOU are well? Not seen you about for a while.

    Hi again Magenta,
Never found out what they were. I used to bite the bits that peeled off or use nail clippers and something like a clear nail varnish which helped but can't remember what it was.
Not bad thanks, have good days and bad.

    Hi All.
I have severe nail pitting, lines and nails coming away but its connected to Psoriasis for me. Dont know if others get the symptoms you hav though : )

    Take care.xx

Me too but it's related to the Psoriasis for me as well. My fingernails are the things I least like about myself.

I have had vertical ridges on my nails for years, probably since the onset of arthritis. Clear varnish evens things out and makes them look better. DD

Hi I have horizontal ridges on my nails now and they are a lot less strong than they used to be, they used to grow really long and look nice with nail varnish, now varnish seems to make the ridges look more obvious. I thought mine was just age!!!

I too cover mine with a strengthening clear varnish and then put coloured varnish on top and this disguises the ridges and pitting . I also take " hair skin and nail " tablets , ( mainly as I'm still regrowing my hair after a disastrous reaction to methotrexate 2 years ago ) , and find that these help to toughen up my nails . Hi Magenta,

I've had the lines on my nails since I was a child, maybe it's a sign

I've had this for ages and I'm fairly sure someone once told me it was due to the RA.
