Hello
I have recently been diagnosed with Psoraitic arthritis, fibro and cfs,
I have been offered Methotrexate and was wondering if anyone has taken this medicine and how did it help or not help.
Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum.
I am not on Meth but I do know there are quite a few on here that are, I am sure that there will be some responses soon.

Just wanted to wish you well

Hello, it's nice to meet you but I am sorry that you have had to find us. I too have PA, I am much further down the arthritis road than you but I have been on injected meth for some time now. We all react differently to the meds, no-one can tell you what will work for you and what won't, but I sincerely hope you fall into the 'helped' category, and, even better the 'helped a great deal' category! Hi , I too have PsA( and OA , osteoporosis) , was diagnosed 4 years ago and started MXT orally and increased over time but as I have gastric problems I now inject 25 mgs weekly. It took a while to get used to but it slowed down the damage, have also had sulphasalazine and hydroxycolloquine, last 2 I couldnt tolerate(gastric probs again) so now Rheumy looking at biologics after steroids have departed from my system totallySo give it a try under medical guidance and regular checks on your bloods. It could be your saving grace. Everyone responds differently but hope you are going to have good results Take care Linda

    Hi Sue.

I've just been diagnosed with RA (Rheumatoid Arthur) and just started on Mtx (Methotrexate) also Hydroxychloroquine and Folic Acid.

There are plenty of peeps on here who have been taking Mtx for a long time who can share their experiences with you.

As the Dr and the Pharmacist told me when I picked up the meds the week before last, "Good luck with that"!.

    Hope it goes well.

    Take care.

    hi Sue,

    welcome frm m as well.

i have pa, oa and almost certainly fibro though i asked them not to tell me i had.

been on mtx now for something like 2 years most of it on 25 tablets and now injections.

i did have a lot of side effects initially but only the sickness and hair thinning have continued. i takes stuff to help counter balance that and its not too bad.

i hope you find the mtx does the job through what are you taking for the oa cus the mtx want touch that i am afraid. be good if it could do both. nice to meet you. Cris x

    Hi Sue,

I have been on Mtx for a year now and have increased my dosage to 17.5 per week. It has taken some time for it to work for me but reluctant as I was to start on this medication it has made a difference for me.

We all have different experiences and some find a good improvement straight away and others like me take longer to adjust.

They will monitor you well while on this drug and most combine it with folic acid. If you decide to go this route let us know as we can give you some hints and tips.

    Good luck with it all
