Oh you lot are amazing !!!!! I was waiting in X ray for 1 hour and all I concentrated on was the positive vibes of you all in my pocket ( hubby thinks im bonkers by the way).

I finally got to see the surgeon and, even without pleading insanity, he said " oh yes you've healed so well in the last three weeks, the plaster can come off and you CAN HAVE AN AIRCAST boot !!
I am even allowed to put some weight down when standing and a little bit when walking with the crutches, but not too much for the next three weeks.

However, my grandma used to say " be careful what you wish for, coz you might get it" and I have to say today that the boot does feel strange, although more comfortable in some ways but more restrictive
in others. I know its going to take days for my poor little bit of flesh thats left of my foot and leg to adjust - I have all sorts of strange feelings in my foot tonight.

However - TONIGHT I SLEEP NAKED - no boot and no plaster - how weird will that feel I wonder??????

And now I am headed to the bath to soak off all that dried blood, scum skin, shave the 3ft hairs - enough said ??? This is some sick kind of happiness!!!

Forum friends - you have the power !!!

Thanks again to all of you for your good wishes!!!

Foot feels really funny like it doesnt belong to me and now, allof a sudden, I feel really vulnerable without anything on it - Im terrified Im going to wake up in the morning and just get up and walk to the loo - without putting my boot on!!!! I bet im awake all night wondering if im sleeping in the wrong position or something - it seems somehow wrong to be moving it around now, like it might break ... omg I just dont know when to stop worrying do I ????

Freedom - weird stuff, isn't it? I recently had a lovely dose of it when I upped the steroids for some support, cor life WAS good and life WAS sweet for a couple of days or more. Now just you behave yourself young cacyhi, no running around etc, you are still healing and that takes time. Rest, rest and then rest a little more. DD

    Hi all,
Frogmorton - no it doesnt feel light - actually its much heavier than the fibreglass cast and I think that's why today has been such a downer for me!
Im having to learn to walk differently again, and I am supposed to bear a litle weight when standing still or walking around the house just to start a little bit - then Im stressing, "how much is a little bit??"
I know I need to focus on the positive fact that I have moved on a stage because I have healed reasonably well and allow myself to be pleased with that.

tony - ive lost freedom, coz its harder to get around with this boot thing on than the plaster cast. I cant hop around with this, its too heavy and I have to wear a shoe all the timeon the other foot incase I clobber that one to pieces!

Have to say though that the bath last night was amazing - I just didnt want to get out!!!

Another step on the journey every day - need to keep reminding myself

I hope it still feels good this morning and you soon get used to the 'difference'. Even if it's not all good, it's still the next stage that you've moved on too. Hope it all goes well.

Just think as the boot is another step to freedom! And hey your trendy now because the singer Jessie J had one of those boots on and look at her now she has finished with the boot and is walking round now! I'm sure you and the boot will find a way to get along just fine! Take care. xx

    Hi bubbadog -

Yeah I know the boot is trendy right now but I have to tell you, its damn heavy (2.1lb apparently) and I only had skinny legs to start with and the right one is like a matchstick after 9 weeks in plaster

A couple of reasons I maybe dont feel a positive as Jesse J - easily more than twice her age, triple fusion and not bi-sexual (only joking!)

Today my knee is sore (probably coz im using it more with the boot and didnt bend it much when in plaster - funny how you forget) and my whole leg just aches. Just feel like im swapping one set of problems for another to get used to - I suppose thats what they call progress!!!
