A small favour to ask

So - I know I am pretty new and haven't spoken to a lot of you guys yet but just thought I would ask a favour. I am having my next MRI at 9.45 on Sunday and this will determine if upto 3 more vertebrae will be replaced, which would take my grand total to 6!

I am kind of a believer in the power of positive thinking so if any of you can spare a though around that time I am kind of hoping I can keep the original vertebrae as me and the carbon-fibre ones don't get along so well :)

So keep a few fingers crossed (not ones that are sore)

I hope everyone has been smiling today, B :)

I will be there, count me in. Beebop, I think I want to live where you live - an MRI on as Sunday? Ye gods. My local whatever-they-are (PCT? TCP?) are convinced that there are only five working days in one week, and preferably only four if they really put their minds to it. DD

Thanks everyone - with so many positive vibes it will have to go well!

I was surprised by the Sunday MRI too - particularly as I had been requesting for 18 months to have them at times that are easy for work (early morning or late afternoon) but everyone has been slap-bang in the middle of the day... then all of a sudden a Sunday appt!!! I didn't even know they did them on Sundays! pfft, have to laugh..

Keep smiling everyone and hope you are all feeling good today :)

If there's an MRI Scanner in B & Q carpark- would you have to Do-It-Yourself?

Sorry - trying to be funny - (should just leave that to tony & rehab) good luck again for tomorrow Beebo x

I'm too late to send you good vibes, but hope the results are good news.

So... I hope this is the only time I have a melt down because I generally - really honestly, I try and stay very positive BUT... had a mini-meltdown at my MRI today and not entirely sure why...

I had a crappy nights sleep with a giant headache and by the morning my left hand had turned into some kind of very unhelpful jelly, which I could barely move. Then I had one of my oh-so-exciting full back electric shocks which very kindly sent me catapulting to the floor resulting in a wonderful bang to my already rather instable neck. So after taking my morning mixture of painkillers and all the other things I take with the desperate hope will make me better (including manuka honey, apple vinegar, vitamins etc, did my exercises that dont seem to make any difference and I was ready to go....

Sat in the waiting room and I filled in the form which asks amongst other things my weight and upon entering it my o/h thought it would be a funny moment to say 'oh yeah, on a good day'... it goes without saying that I did not find it funny and was in fact extra-irritable then usual.

It was a different hospital where they didn't give me music to listen to, this may seem minor but for some reason it really bugged me - then they took a really long time to do the MRI and the machine didn't have a head rest, which for any others of you with a dud spine will understand hurt like hell. I started to get the tremors and pins and needles which is just a little heirloom of my grazed spinal cord and then (probably because I looked very sad) a sweet older lady said to me 'don't worry, whatever it is they can fix it nowadays - at least your not an old lady like me with arthritis'.

This has been compounded by the fact that I have had a fairly horrifying outbreak of eczema all over my face rendering me highly self-conscious - think it's stress related!!? (rhetorical).

I vow to never say this again but I am 29 and sometimes it feels really unfair.

Okay - rant over. Hit a small low-point today but promise that I will bounce back and start being positive again.

Hope you have all had good days and I still believe all the positive thoughts will give me a good outcome from the MRI!! :)

    Love, Beccy xxx

Oh MRI's are hard enough without all the extra problems you had.
I just ask for extra pillows because of my spoine and they give them to me.
I agree with you about the lack of music....I didnt have any the last time and it did make a difference....I asked before they slid me in and they said they were having tech problems with the music
Hope the results are better than the MRI

Call that a melt down? That's nothing - sounds to me like you took it all in your stride today. Unless youve been in an MRI Scanner you cannot possible know what its like. It wasnt at your usual hospital and you are quite rightly stressed about what the MRI might find. I think you are one hell of a strong girl - just pleased you have an OH to be with you (however useless they seem at times, it has to be better than being on your own :?: )

Just put it behind you now and have a relaxing evening watching the X factor/strictly/downtown on TV and try and get a good nights sleep. When do you have a follow up appointment for the results ? I hope you dont have to wait too long.

Im almost twice your age, still have melt downs regularly - then like we all do, pick oursleves up and start fighting all over again. You have to cut yourself some slack sometimes. x
