Not a major problem

Just a minor irritation. But it’s certainly irritating me at the moment and I, in turn, am irritating Mr SW.
Hydroxychloroquine & Gaviscon Advance. The label on the former says I mustn’t take the latter up to 2 hours before & after it. The specialist’s instructions for the latter was after every meal and going to bed. I do need it right now. I’ve even given up my beloved tea in an attempt to pacify my stomach.
So, I did the obvious thing and ignored the instructions, figuring out that one daily infringement, after breakfast, taking the gaviscon when I’d already taken the hydroxychloroquine, wouldn’t make a huge difference.
It does. Two weeks on, I’m much stiffer than usual (Gaviscon interferes with the action of hydroxychloroquine I have discovered) and for several days I’ve been getting a raging headache after breakfast.
I know what to do. I should take the hydroxy mid-afternoon with a banana or somesuch. It’s the obvious solution. It’s the sensible solution and, from tomorrow, I shall do it. Meanwhile, my pram is surrounded by spat out dummies. I am distinctly miffed. Part of my reason for being miffed is that I don’t even have a good reason for it. What sort of dozy wassock am I? (Please do not attempt an answer.)

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Since when has feeling miffed required a reason? Ye gods woman, given what we put up with on a daily basis it amazes me that we are not all armpit-deep in spat dummies.
You think you have a solution: let's hope that proves to be the case. I too have always gaily ignored the DIRE warnings about not taking one drug with another etc, but oddly enough that is one I have always respected. I am rarely troubled with indigestion, and for that I am thankful, but the sulph and the steroids (now so nearly a thing of the past) both say not to be followed by indigestion remedies.
I hope that things ease soon, that you feel better and that Mr SW and you become friends again. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Sticky,
\i m going to answer so there!
The drugs and the gaviscon.... oh I know that one as do a few of us now....
Hope the new way of taking it all helps and you don;t feel so rough. He is struggling (he been stealing) into his suit and ((((( ())))) Cris xx0 -

Hi Stickey
You could build a house from dummies in our house and no we don't have a young one
I do take Gaviscon after meals but only if I get acid reflux. The stomach protectors I use are Lansoprazole, not sure if they are any good. It might be worthwhile talking Dr./Rhuemy about this and ask if they can suggest anything better.
Good luck Love

Hi Sticky,
you don't sound at all dozy to me, sounds like you have worked out a suitable meds regime - just a pity the pharmacist or prescriber couldn't have suggested it, before you learnt the hard way.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Sticky
not been around on here this weekend so only just seen this.
Well its 4.15 so by my reckoning you have eaten the banana and taken the hydroxy, I hope this new timetable has been successful.
Hope you are feeling much better today.
Love

Hi Sticky,
Not such a wassock- we've all bent the rules to try and cope I'm sure- and maybe if pharmacists etc explained the rules we'd know what questions to ask them upfront. Anyway-hope the solution is working for you- I'l love to know because the hydroxy and sulfasalazine give me rampant acid too!
Take care.

Thank you all you very kind people. I have been more sensible today. I hate being sensible so, Mig, it isn't necessarily 'a lesson learned'. My ability not not learn and/or forget lessons is renowned. I can't really blame the pharmacist as my hydroxychloroquine clearly states on the label that antacids etc shouldn't be taken within 2 hours either way.
I, too, am 'rarely troubled by indigestion', DD and therein lies the problem. It's apparently what they call 'silent reflux'. You don't know you've got it until you feel the consequences. Vonski, I've been taking Lansoprazole for years. It's a both/and, not an either/or, I'm afraid.
Today's been better until I cracked just now & had a big mug of tea. I feel better and worse at the same time. (The dozy wassock strikes again.)If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

it's funny cos I never suffered with indigestion until I started on the alverine and peppermint oil tablets. I get it regularly now but can't take antacids at all while on them.. I reckon it's more a case of one of the tablets getting a bit stuck in the windpipe as both tablets are the size of an average Polish child :???: and are taken one three times a day. LolMe-Tony

Ouch!!!
I wasn't going to reply but one of your dummies hit me
We all do daft things especially when we don't want to conform.
You're just a rebel Sticky.
Hope you enjoyed your cuppa I'm just off to have mine.Love, Legs x

We all break rules all the time and usually nothing happens and we're fine. Then one day we break one tiny rule that seems nothing very much and wham  we pay for it. So we say we'll never do that again...but then one day, well it doesn't matter, we'll be fine but......
Of course, I NEVER break any rules, do as I'm told, strike me down with a thunder bolt if I'm telling a lieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee0 -
Hi SW,
Rules are meant to be broken.... As long as you learn from them
If you are a wazzock that makes how many of us??
Live & learn
