Being new to all this I would just like to comment on how much the cold hurts.

Oh yessss!!!! The cold really hurts.
What about wet and damp ????? That sets arthur off as well.
Heat.....Hot weather ...never did like it too hot but that was before arthur so nothing new there ....we are all completely different
I moved from N Ireland to Australia and then a few years back to NE England  The difference in England/Ireland and Australia is obvious. The difference in NE Eng and Northern ireland...former is very cold but reasonably dry.....N Ireland.....not nearly as cold but very very wet
Arthur has great fun in both of those climates

Yes the cold is tough on joints. Get prepared - thermals/passion killers ... wheatie bags, fleecy blankets/sleeping bags etc Remember too to keep moving so you don't add extra stiffness to your problems.

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

Its strange, my consultant tells me to ice my knee if it flares up and yet the cold hurts so much!

I think all arthritis sufferers should be networked as its a great way to tell if its going to rain!

The cold is really painful especially if it's snowing and I ache more, hot weather also causes me grief as the Rhumatoid arthritis causes me dry skin and the sun makes it worse , I get a nice itchy rash on my face, around my nose and cheeks unless use various moisturisers ........so can't win

I was wondering if extreme heat or cold will effect THR joints , mine will be ceramic , do they feel different if weather very hot/cold.

The heat or the cold never affected the PA and I think the same applies to the OA too - I must have had it last winter but I honestly did not notice any difference in pain levels. We are all different in how we react to the weather, the meds etc. I hope you are feeling easier in your joints today, Lola. DD
