Hi All
I hope you are all feeling well today, just an update on where I am at. I went to the GP this morning who straight away signed me off for 3 weeks as he said it was a totally reasonable request and that as a nurse I need to look after myself before I can look after others. I then rang my manager who I dont think was very happy (but tough) to explain I had been signed off for 3 weeks therefore I would be cancelling my 2 weeks annual leave and bringing the certificate into her tomorrow, I am leaving this job in 4 weeks as I am changing to community work as this will be much better for me and my joints as much less physical, so she has suggested I take the final week as 1 of my annual leave weeks therefore meaning I dont have to go back at all which I think I may do as it will mean I am totallly rested and hopefully by then the meds will be working and ill be raring to go in my new job!.
The Meth is playing havoc with me and my body  I take it on Friday night so I can have all the side effects over the weekend and apart from the fatigue im suffering it also makes me feel so sick I spent most of the day yesterday with my head in a bowl wreaching - id rather just be sick and get it over with! (sorry if thats too graphic) but im hoping as this was only my 4th dose that as time goes on it will subside (fingers crossed!).
I have sent in the documentation for a blue badge - not that I think ill get awarded but you never know, I have also this morning requested a DLA form and may tackle that over the next couple of weeks. So I have been quite busy this morning and now its time for a nap!.
Also what do you guys think about using crutches when my hips/knees/feet are bad? OT have suggested it and I have some in the cupboard but im worried how that would affect my shoulders/wrists/hands, just wondered if anyone else had any experience.
Sorry its such a long post, just wanted you guys to know I dont always post just to moan .
J xx

Hi, glad to hear you have been signed off work. I hope the rest gives your body a chance to recover a bit.
If OT have suggested the crutches give them a go. I do find them hard on my hands and I have the fancy handled ones, but little at a time isn't too bad. I have wrist splints which help the wrists somewhat.
Hope your blue badge is successful.0 -

Hi J
Im so glad you are having the time off, you have to look after yourself, I do hope the sickness subsides for you.

I think is sounding altogether more positive for you, Fedup. I think the break will do you good, arthritis is tiring and demanding and it takes time to sort out one's personal strategies for coping - we can pass on tips and hints but different things work for different folk. Good luck with the BB application and the form filling. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
