Only you can decide this Val.
I had one in my hand on Friday and nothing so far but we are all different.
I too take Naproxen but don't find that helps much either.
My hand is still swollen and painful but I live in hope.
I personally wouldn't cancel this appointment yet.But thats me as I know that if I did I would probably regret it.
Whatever you decide GOOD LUCK.

Oh valval, who knows? If the naproxen is helping and you can cope with its side effects then I would say forget the steroid, but hold fire and see what November brings. When is your appointment - early, middle or late November? The worst winter months are often February/March - wouldn't life be easier if we all had crystal balls? (Yup, I know, tjt and Ra already do. ) Decisions can only be made at the required time based on the available information. Hindsight is always perfect. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Ok Sods law will come into force if you do cancel. and your pain will get worse and then u have to wait to be refered again....
You can very nearly bet your last pound on it happening.
So saying that, i wouldnt cancel and would only do this if i was certain i would be ok without it especially if u get relief from it,
Oh decisions decisionsClare xx0 -
thanks all do not want to take appointment from some one who has better need but will wait and see will have to look when it is as made it before going away hate to put this down as tempting fate but no pain as such in it at moment so will play wait and see might find out how much notice they need to pass apointment on to some one else took nearly two weeks but sternum one is helping can breath deep with out having to think about it lol not right yet but so much better lol valval0

Valval, it's hard for anyone to tell you what would be the best thing for you to do but I can tell you what I did. I cancelled an appointment for joint injections in march, thinking I was a good bit better and someone else could use the appointment. I'd been waiting since December.
I spent weeks in pain waiting on another apt and only got one at the end of June. I won't ever cancel an appointment again. I had my knee and hip injected and I think they both helped for a time.
Even if you think you're ok you can still be helped by the injections I think. My knee was'nt that bad when I went but the Dr could see it was still swollen.
Best of luck for whatever you do, I'm sure you'll make the decision which is right for you.
Big hugs, rita.0 -
