    Hiya
I have severe OA hip pain , It can only be described as a nagging ache down your leg, mine keeps me awake all night as no matter how I sleep it kills me , it feels like someone has given me a dead leg , sometimes the pain radiates from the knee , so may appear to be a knee problem, but lack of hip mobility and x-rays will confirm
When I walk the pain goes to my back because I cant fully straighten my hips and originally thought it was a disc , the pain is so severe I have to sit after or lean over railings after about 100yds of walking , the pain then goes until I walk another 100yds. My hips are not sore to the touch or swollen etc.

I doubt if just sore to the touch OA as the pain radiates from deep in the hip joint and cannot for example be massaged away and you would have mobility problems/ lack of flexation as it's bone grinding on bone due to worn cartilidge. no idea what Fibro pain is or is like.

Hi, you have described how i walk, but mine is after about 60 yards, i use a walking stick, mainly for something to hold onto when i stop walking and to help me walk with support. The pain does go into my back as well and my legs ache. my hips do not grind when i am sat down in my hips, but they get stiff and the pain makes me walk very slowly but my knees do grind and they click. I know i have a titled pelvis

Fibro pain is like arthritis of the muscles if that makes sense..OA is in the bone but Fibro is in the muscles in the joints and it is very sore and tender to touch the skin. Massage is a very painful experience as it feels like someone is touching how you would imagine raw muscle would feel being touched

it is that long since i was diagonised with fibro and seen a specialist, i often wonder how much of my pain is fibro and how much is OA if any

    Thanks for your reply x

    Hi
I have had one THR....and still get a "toothache feeling" down the front of that leg, especially if I stand.
On the other side ...It has to be replaced..........
and the pain is where the bone is at the side, at the top of the leg and sligtly round my back as well but where OA finishes and the kypho scoliosis starts is hard to say
Sorry that probably doesnt make much sense.......Mobility is bad as well but to touch doesnt hurt.....although lying on that side does.

    Love

I would maybe go and see your GP and ask him/her for pain relief and some advice. I have PA and Fibro and thought that the hip pain I had was due to the PA but the last time I was at the hospital joint injection clinic, the Dr there thought it might be the fibro. She injected it anyhow and the injection helped as it did with my swollen knee. Hopefully you'll get some advice and info soon. Good luck and good vibes Rita.
