Mr DD returned from his 250-odd round trip of yesterday and announced 'I saw three peacocks standing in a lay-by on the A12.' I honestly don't think I will ever hear that sentence again. DD

    Apparently they were all standing next to each other, tails a-trailing, at right-angles to the dual carriageway and looking for all the world as tho they wanted to cross. They were just outside Colchester at the edge of the Suffolk-bound carriageway. DD
