Hi has anyone been on or is on these pain patches?
I got them yesterday 25mmg/hour ones and put one on at 6.20pm and omg I have had the worst night every hot flushes and weird dreams and this morning I am so dizzy and more hot flushes and feel like I am going to black out. Luckily daughter is off school with the cold so she is down on sofa to keep eye on me incase I do black out.
I can't do tramadol as they make me feel bad but not as bad as this so not sure if I should just take patch off and say not for me or if this is my body just getting used to it. Any advice appreciated thanks.
Tracey

It could be your body getting used to it as they are strong, but it may be worth ringing docs for a telephone appointment and speak to gp and see what they advise, then you will know what to do..
    Hope you feel better soon..x

    Hi Tracey,
I'm waiting to see GP to get these (as hospital don't prescribe due to cost) so while I was waiting I thought I'd do some research and ask some questions as I naievly thought there wouldn't as many side effect because they by-pass your stomach which is what causes me problems (re: tramadol). So I was shocked when I found out how they could make you feel, as you said, hot flushes, headaches, dizzy, nauseous and was advised to start on a very low dose, but now I'm having second thought so will wait till I see GP and have a good talk with him before I decide. I thought you could just use them when you needed to if the pain was really bad but as they're addictive you can't keep stopping and starting them as you would get withdrawal symptoms. I think you probably are just getting used to them but if I were you I would
talk to someone and find out more before you decide if you want to stay on them. I'm surprised the GP or pharmacist didn't ask you if you'd had them before, 'cos if you say no they usually talk you through the side
effects etc. I hope you get it sorted and feel better soon.

Sue I got mine prescribed over phone I spoke to my doc that has been doing the acupuncture for me and she knows how much pain I have been in due to ankle so she thought they would be worth a try and she did know I can't take the tramadol as they space me out too much. When I picked up my prescription I had to sign the other box for controlled drug and asked what it was for and she said it's cause it is a controlled drug and I said oh ok never new not had them before but she never said anything either.

I have just been really sick so just sipping water see if it goes away. So glad daughter is here as really don't like feeling like this and it's worse if you are home alone. Will phone doc at 11 as that is when we can speak to them.

    Hi Racey

l have bu-trans patches. l did start on 5mg though!! Had a bit like morning sickness day one and that was it. Maybe you should get in touch with your doc asap and see what he/she advises.

My MIL had this on the fentanyl ones and had to give up though.

    Love

    Hi,
I had Butrans 5mg patches a good number of years ago and was very lucky I didn't have any side effects. However, I was told I had to start on the lowest possible dose. I was also advised to start them on a Saturday so if I had any side effects it wouldn't affect my ability to work.
The first one was wonderful - about 2 hours after putting it on I realised something was missing - pain! I was pain free for the first time in years! I nearly cried with relief. Unfortunately 7 days later the second patch went on (again 5mg) - that didn't work so after 2 days of head banging with pain I ripped it off and went back to the Tramadol which luckily I tolerate. My GP offered to "up" the dose to 10mg but I was concerned how quickly I'd get through the dosages if it had to increase every two weeks. I'd certainly try them again.
I hope you managed to get hold of your Dr for some advice. Try ginger biscuits for the nausea.
Take care and good luck, Grace

    hi Tracey,

sorry your having a bit of a bad time there. the patches and me didn't get on at all but they did help and had i not been so ill i would have stuck it out they helped that much.

i hope the ice lolly worked but if not it might be worth asking the gp for some anti-emetic or maybe they have a smaller does you could try for a min to get used to before gong to this one.

hop its is all continuing to ease u for you and they will work and work ell. Cris x

hi everyone, I had a fab night sleep and got up this morning feeling great and actually walked down my stairs normal which is something I had forgotten how to do it's been so long. Ankle is still swollen and sore depending on how I walk on it at times so will just be aware of that and not overdo it and use crutches when out and about on my feet any length of time till I get the xray on Tues and see what is going on with it.

lovely omlette for breakfast and coffee on tap lol he is so handy at times, the only price I have to pay is giving up the tv for him to play forza 4 on xbox but daytime tv is rubbish anyway lol just gave him the orders for tea so he will cook that for me its ace having kids who can cook good meals and not just pot noodles or beans on toast
