I have been limping around the house today(hip playing up) trying to tidy up and do housework so OH doesn't have to come home and do it, while resting in between with me hot water bottle.. lol..
Oh came home at 12 so he could go up town as i was unable to, bath was run for him and house tidy..
While he was out i put a quick wash on and put it out and limped about a bit more, holding on to the walls lol, why i do this when i have sticks and crutches i don't know lol, but having the use of 2 hands while doing bits is easier than 1 or none..
Before i knew he was back and giving me stern looks for doing washing etc and then went on to say why have i let my son go to school to help out on open evening when i am unable to walk to go get him..My reason is simple just because i am bad it shouldn't spoil what the kids wanted to do..
Anyway i needed to escape to my solitary place, the bathroom, it is the only place i can shut myself in and get peace and quiet.. So after my long haul up the stairs i get into the bathroom, as i go to step without holding on anything(nothing at arms reach) the pain that shot through my hip was ouch, suddenly i just went without any warning my legs seem to go and i felt myself going backwards...i was expecting to land with a thud and a bag but surprisingly i landed in the washing basket which was full of washing, so not only did i have soft landing but no thud was heard and OH none the wiser..
Am now firmly put on the sofa and do not think it is wise that i move around too much just incase my fall isn't so soft next time lol..
Good thing is it made me chuckle when i realised where i landed and i can laugh about it now..
Hope it has put a smile on your face too..xx

Oh dear Traveluvie and I bet if you tried to do that again on camera to get your £250 you'd be unable to recreat it :!:
I'm pleased though that you appear to have got away with this without any obvious damage at this point and hope you're not too sore tomorrow.
I know what you mean about crutches/sticks. They're a blessing but at the same time a flaming nuisance with getting things from A-B. I was post-op years ago and on partial w-b with crutches and my OH had gone to work. I congratulated myself on making a cup of coffee in the kitchen and then realised I couldn't get it from the kitchen into the lounge! So annoying but I wasn't gonna waste coffee - no way. I drank some of the coffee, then dumped one of the crutches (very naughtily) and literally slid along the hall wall until I got to the lounge. Success!
Rest up for today and try my chocolate cure - when it's medicinal it's calorie and sugar free. Preferably washed down with a glass of wine or cuppa - which is your preferred option.
Take care, Grace.Turn a negative into a positive!0 -
Oh Tracy that made me chuckle
You were very lucky there  Next time you wont be so lucky so please be careful. I walk around house without crutches & i trip or fall regularly fror the stupidest of reasons
I had a chair in my room right next to the door & i kept walking into it  Bruising my right thigh..Today i finally managed to move it to the otherside of the room Now gotta wait for bruises to disappear, i'll soon have another from somewhere else  I fell over a lump of raised tarmac the other day on the footpath & luckily i had my crutches in front of me as i tripped or i would have gone over
Take care now, debs0 -
Glad it made you chuckle..xxTracyxx0

Oh Tracy you did make me smile
It is scary as you start to fall, wondering where you are going to end up, glad you aimed for linen basket rather than the bath.
Hope the pain has settled down now and you are able to sleep well
Take care

There you are - a perfect reason for not doing the laundry as often! I'm glad you are OK as that could have been a deal worse - on our weaker days our homes are minefields to be negotiated, not places of refuge and safety. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Oh poor Tracey, at least you had a soft landing! Bet it's made you think again about be careful and listening to your body! You have to think of yourself 1st. At least you gave me a little chuckle with the explanation of it all! Hope the naughty Hip gets better soon. But I'm also as bad with my crutches so we are all confessing our bad habits!!0

Feeling a lot better today, have managed to put a load of washing in so i do not want to be falling over later as there will be no soft landing for me..
Have also managed to throw a cake together(literally lol) and put it in the oven, have no idea how it will turn out as my ingredients were a little bizarre, We shall see.. :?:xxTracyxx0 -

Traluvie, I’m sorry I’m arriving late to this thread. I guess you can go down one of two routes. Either take no chances at all as far as mobility goes or leave baskets of washing at every hazard ready for an unplanned landing. I speak as one who has, over arthritic time, unwittingly perfected every ice dancing jump going, including my favourite - the triple salchow into the armchair.
I have no advice to offer but may all your landings be soft.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I don't think the kids or OH would be happy with piles of washing gathered around the house just for my soft landing, so i think in future i will need to be a wee bit more careful..xxTracyxx0 -
