Val i am with you on this one, I do not think i could have someone elses hand on me for fear of not knowing what that hand may have done..I know where my hands have been and what i have done with them, if i was to loose a hand i would rather a plastic one..xxxTracyxx0

I saw this too val and I am with mixed feelings.
It is a bit freaky but very clever.
He will have the touch sensation which you can't with prosthetic
and he will beable to grab (properly) without thinking.
As you know I have a prosthetic leg and they are heavy and not always comfortable, and can rub and cause skin eruptions.
Sooo....atleast he will not have those problems and it will properly belong to him (if you know what I mean)
I just wish him luck and hope that his body doesn't reject it. I think he is brave for trying.
I wouldn't want a leg transplant because.....I am a coward and hate ops.

Well I think you're cute anyway, Rehab
It's strange that to accept a donated organ like a kidney doesn't seem out of the ordinary these days, but to have someone else's hand must be very strange. I wonder whether you would ever feel that it really belonged to you, or whether you would always be wondering about the person who it came from. The psychological aspects of it are difficult to imagine.0 -
The mind boggles  :eek:0

hi Val,
i remember that film as well and there was another one as well but think its incredibly clever and well if you lost your hand you might well wish to try it.
i think i would actually but i don;t know how i would feel about someone else's hand but it would feel like mine and in time i am sure i would be ok about it as organ donering is voluntary.... it might be different id it were compulsory....
i actually couldn;t go for it cus f the ethic thing but without that yeah i would go for it.
i ho he does well and the one i did bulk at was the face transplant... not o sure about that one....
hope your doing ok>? ((((( ))))) Cris xx0 -
you would need a lot of help with both i think but the face does resemble yours but well the hand i not sure of but in both cases you would be so glad of it if needed i am sure you would get lots of counseling before and after to help with all the feelings that would be bound to ariseval0
