I'm getting a new rheumy

Hi!
Remember the trouble I had with my old rheumy? I complained about her because she wasn't taking me seriously. She thought because I didn't swell up and had normal CRP that there was nothing wrong. I had a phone conversation with PALS who made me feel like I was one of "those" patients and I didn't hear anything back for weeks so I sent a great long email off to PALS a few days ago and this morning I got a letter from the rheumy. She's sorry she couldn't provide the help I wanted and is referring me to another rheumy in Chesterfield for a fresh start
I'm feeling so much better about things now, or I would be if I wasn't in the middle of a flare, but hopefully this new chap will take everything into consideration and hopefully have some ideas on what I can do to improve things.
I'm having an ultrasound scan on my arm tomorrow to find out why it keeps swelling up. It's a bit weird, basically my upper arm gets bigger and feels heavy, sore and painful. If you look at me from behind my arm sticks right out above my elbow and the doctors don't seem to know what it is. I've been fobbed off with I'm right handed so of course my right arm is bigger than my left, and I've been told it's because I use my walking stick in my right hand, but why would it suddently flare up now after having the stick for 18 years? Ah well, it's another puzzle for them eh?

Hi Clair
I am really very pleased for you!!!
Let's hope this is a nice clear fresh start and the chap can help you at last
Your arm sounds very odd (no offence meant!) a proper enigma
Would be interested to hear the outcome.
Love

Oh I do hope this one is better for you in all ways, I really do. The arm thing makes no sense - going on that reasoning I should have arms like Popeye! I wish you well in this new leg of your journey. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Well the mystery of the arm is solved! I went for my ultrasound scan this morning and they found I have an impinged tendon in my shoulder. Apparently that is what is causing the pain in my arm, the radiologist sympathised because he has the same problem. He also said it wasn't caused by walking with a stick, it's just something that happens as we get older. I joked I'm only 36 and I didn't expect to be on the scrap heap just yet! LOL!
He's sending me back to my GP to have an injection which should sort me out for a bit. He did say that my right arm was swollen and he scanned it but he said it's normal tissue and it's just how I'm made.

Hi Clair,
Good for you for getting the new Rheumy sorted out. The best thing I ever did is to get a re-referral so fingers crossed for you.
Tendonitis is very painful no wonder you have been suffering. I hope you get your injection soon, I had one in my wrist and it was very successful.
Well done again flower.

Glad you got some joy with the arm. Well done on changing rheumy-I did the same recently after a long battle and it has been great-the new guy listened, took notice and is sorting me out with a referral to respiratory guy now-after 3 years of being largely ignored by prvious rheumy. Hope all goes well for you too.0
