As some of you know I'm going to Oxford to get a steriod injection under anesthetic at the end of Nov.
Well I took the form to the Dr's last Fri to get filled in, you know the usual medical history etc. Anyway I just rang to see if it was ready cos in spite of the fact I asked the receptionist to ring me as I need to post it they never!!
She said oh yes it's ready it will be £15.00!!!!
I said, and I quote "What you're having a laugh £15." she said yes that's what it usually is. I told her what it was for and she said oh, oh just come and collect it!!
I just wanted to give you all a laugh, and let me tell you when I go to collect it if they try to charge me I will be telling them to file it where the sun don't shine!

    Lol..

Apparently they can charge you for medical things they write out for you..
My CAB advisor is writing to my doctor to ask to write me a medical report for my ESA appeal, he said they can charge anything.. he has had one doctors quote £200.... that is ridiculous, i hope my doctor doesn't charge that much..
I hope you do not have to pay for it, it's bad enough we have to get medical evidence but to pay for it as well can be a bit extreme..

How pathetic, instead of trying to charge for these letters they should fine/charge people that constantly miss appointments without cancelling them.

Hope you get the receptionist you spoke to and not a jobsworth

That sounds about right for GP's these days! To get a letter for holiday insurance perposes saying 'these are all the meds the paitent is taking and I sign to say this is correct and that the patient is well enough to fly.' Will cost you £10 and it is only for the dates of that holiday when you go on further holidays you have to pay for more letters. Nice little earner for the G.P's!! I wouldn't mind but it's the secretary that does the letter and the G.P signs it!

Yeah I understand that, but this is an injection at an NHS hospital as part of my on going treatment.
Anyway good news is I collected the form today and I never paid a penny.
I spoke to one of the ladies that has been there for about 20 years and told her what the other one said and she shook her head and said you can't get the staff!!
I have been in hospital numerous times and never been asked to pay for the form to be filled in. I think she thought it was some personal thing.
So all's well that ends well.

it certainly is a nice little earner. I'm quite sure that it isn't registered in any books either, tax free lump sums for the doctors. Wonder what they'd say if you asked for a receipt? Lol
It is something that should be controlled..

Triggernut I am glad the charge for the signature was dropped, you were quite lucky there. My mil who is 78 had to pay for a similar thing last year.
I think it is outrageous too.
