i spoke to my dear sister last night , i am the youngest of 4 , her attitude is so upsetting when i had my knee done , it was do you really need it , why are you still using crutches , now its why have you still got the brace on thought the op was supposed to put it right , why are you still using crutches do you need them , do you pick your feet up when walking ,your other joints should not be hurting if they have repaired the knee , her last comment was you are no further forward then i knew you should not have had the knee replaced it should not take this long to recover , so and so is ok after theirs ,

and the DR on saturday at my med review ask why i was still taking diclos they are inflammatories , [i knew that ] but its her that has been doing the repeat prescription for the last 3 years now shes saying i don't need them , she has changed them to naproxen , but only take them if i need to , so i am going to leave them of and just see how bad things get

sorry for the rant but i am just confused as to who knows whats right i certainly don't .
I know i am a lady ,all life is a journey xx MAY xx

Oh thats not good but at the end of the day everyone is different so your sis is being unreasonable because if so and so's healed in 2 days doesn't mean to say yours will so I would just wait and see how you feel and let it take time and try not to listen to her ramblings.

Re the naproxen anti-inflamatories, I am on them for my RA and find they help me, I have 500mg morning and night but did cut back to just morning for a while but with this bad flare back to both.

Re the who knows what's right well I can only say it is your body and you are the one who knows it best to you just stick up for yourself and tell them how you feel and what you think works for you.

good luck and hope that knee gets you feeling better again soon xx

aw berty you rant all you like.

Your sister should be a little more understanding that people recover from operations at different levels.
I think you are doing so well, and I am sure you can't wait to get the braces off without being reminded.
As for the crutches, you will no longer use them when you feel confident enough not to. Don't rush these things just because someone is putting you under pressure.

    Take care

    Aw May,

You can well do without your sister's "medical knowledge" can't you? Have you asked her when and where she completed her medical studies?

As to the med review. The gps like to do this every so often, I have a feeling, whether it is for the patients benefit or not may be debatable. At my pre op assessment, the nurse was going on alarmingly about some of the meds(and I am not on many) I had been prescribed telling me that I had no need to be on them. What did she know about it? I just looked at her, thinking I am not on these meds for fun.

    You rant away, May.

    Love

I reckon I've thought of an extra use for your crutches May ...........poke your sister in the stomach with them

It's one of those times where you could wish it on her, just temporarily, so that she would emphasise with you.

Don't leave off the meds entirely as you won't get a medal for suffering pain, take them as you have been, when you need them. Remember you're the expert with your body and your pain, not the doctor. All the doctors are there for is to give advice and offer a service, they only have their job because we keep them employed.

I think you're doing very well.

I'm sorry I'm late coming to this, Bertyboy. One of those days - OK but not at all the one I'd planned.

I think you're doing fine too. Trust your own judgement. There are far too many medical so-called experts out there. I suggest next time your sister makes an uncalled for comment you have 'a crutch malfunction' just to remind her what pain is like.

Diclos/neuros? I didn't think there was much difference but what do I know? (Please don't answer.) See how you get on with them.

Remember you're in charge & you're doing a good job.

Families eh, at times dont you wish they would keep their opinions to themselves??

You are doing ok. If you didnt need the crutches would you use them, i doubt that very much, . if you didnt need meds you wouldnt use them either. Ignore her as you would anyone else who made a stupid comment like that.

Do hope you have stomach protectors with naproxem.

    Take care.xx
