still getting my head round this posting info lark I have replied to people on my last post this is an update on my previous post
AM I GOING MAD SAGA PART 2
Well I visited the Rhumy yesterday so I thought I would give you an update. Explained all my symptoms and how it was making me feel (stiff, shoulders, sore neck, pressure in the head and the occasional stabbing behind the eyes etc), I was told that I have inflammatory arthritis ( last appt it was gout) what’s all that about?. “prescription pad at the ready” . I have now been prescribed with METHOTREXATE as well as or the other meds (amitrip, alloprurinol, steroids). So I’m going to give that a bash. If any of you fancy opening a franchise of Boots the chemist please give me a shout. In the next couple of months I reckon I’m going to be rattling!. I am trying to be positive but I must admit I cant see the wood for the trees at the moment . Any way just wanted to let you all know, after my last post I didn’t feel as alone with it all and I appreciated your kind responses. Speak to you all soon. XXXXXXX
PS if any of you are based in Bedfordshire I would love to meet up with you

Hi Geoff
I hope the introduction of methotrexate starts to relieve your symptoms soon.
Honestly when you get the right medication you will start to feel much better and be able to manage your arthritis.
Keep chopping down those trees.

Oh Geoff
I do know what you mean, some of these docs have the pad out before you speak, I used to think they were oh so clever...but Im sure I could do it
I really do wish you well with the new meds, but if you dont get any joy make sure you go back with a list of symptoms...and make yourself heard...that is the best thing I have learned off this forum
You take careLove

Hi Geoff, I know what you mean about thinking your going mad! I truely feel the same sometimes! Especially when someone says you have one thing and the following time you see someone they say 'oh no, this is what you have.' and then write out a pescription for some other meds. While all this time your sitting there jaw on floor thinking 'what the hell!!' and then you say wait a minute Dr so and so said it was this now your saying he was wrong and it's this!! and Dr says 'oh yes common mistake'.
Been there done it and got several t-shirts!!!
So no your not going mad your just joining the re-diagnosised club! Been told had different illnesses/conditions on more than one occasion!!0 -
Conflicting diagnoses seem the norm................ :???:
Prior to my ankle replacement surgery had an X ray.The report gave symptoms consistent with OA,the surgeon looking at the same X ray said symptoms were due to RA........ :???: :???:
Incidentally following the op in June everything is going ok,much more mobile and relatively painfree!!Will give an update after the 6 month meeting with the surgeon.

Hi Geoff, I'm just popping in to say I hope you are feeling a little easier in yourself: I think inflammatory arthritis is an umbrella term used to cover a range of symptoms until the docs can accurately narrow it down further. Everyone's arthritis is unique to them, how they react to the meds is also unque - one man's blessing is another's curse - and it can take a while to find the right combination of meds that will suit/help you. At least you are on the right track with the meds and be conscientious about the blood tests, they are vital.
Re the tiredness arthritis does that. It wears one out so very much - even if you haven't done much. Take care, talk to us, we know our stuff. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

I had two-weekly bloods for years and yes, I can understand the general feeling of 'down-ness' and how pervasive it can be. (Got it at the mo, actually. ) Arthritis does put one onto a roller-coaster ride, the plunge is rapid, the climb slow and hard and the time at the apex all too brief. Keep in touch, Geoff, you are not on your own with this. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Geoff, I'm a little late popping in today but I hope you are feeling a little better than you have been (actually, that's not true - a deal better would be better!) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hello Geoff, I think the continuity of doctor is so important if only to save going thro the whole saga every time you see someone different. I hope you are able to get that appointment on Wednesday and let us know how you get on - and yes, you are right, I am currently as flat as a pancake that's been steamrollered but hey, it will pass, all things do. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
