So, I have been feeling fed up over the last few days, due to my bloods being off so im not allowed to take my meth this week and further bloods next week, then yesterday I had a really horrid day with my hands and feet to the point I couldnt hold the potato peeler to cook dinner and by the time I had finished I couldnt walk as my feet were so bad they hurt to look at let alone touch them or stand! So I sat upstairs and cried for a while as I was so frustrated that im 34 years old and really shouldnt be feeling like this.

I woke up this morning feeling a little better about things and had my first physio appointment today which I found really good as they confirmed that my ankles, knees and hips are very tight but they are not worried about my shoulders at present, so they have referred me for a 6 week course of hydrotherapy which I feel really positive about as being in warm water really helps my joints so im hoping that this will really help, they also told me that if hydro works, the pool is opened to referred patients to use during lunch time by themselves if they are comfortable with their exercises and feel they help so im feeling a little more positive about things today.

I wanted to ask you guys about pain relief, I currently take co-codamol and tramdol which I have had prescribed for a long time for my crohns but find its not as effective for my joints, I cant take any anti-inflammatories what else do you take? do you have any recommendations (I know everyone is different) just wondered what works for you.

Most people love hydrotherapy because you really can move stiff joints in the warm water and get more movement out of them as the water supports them. I do hope you enjoy it, FedUp.

I'm one of the lucky ones in that I manage on my meth and hydroxychloroquine most of the time with a couple of cocos when I need them.

As for peeling potatoes - there are different kinds of potato peeler on the market and different ones suit different people. For large potatoes I just chop them in half with the bread knife (leaning on the far end of the knife with my forearm), then cut off the ends, then stand them on the flat bit and use the bread knife to slice off the peel (both hands again.) Able-bodies people look worried but I still have all 10 fingers!
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I've used a TENS machine and found it helpful at times. Also, Acupuncture can help, they're both worth a try. Best of luck. Rita.

Of course I should have mentioned reputable Acupuncturists and TENS are only suitable for some people. I was very lucky, my physio let me try out their own tens machine and she showed me how to use it. Also it was my NHS physio who did my acupuncture. She was a real gem and helped me mentally as well as physically. Good luck. Rita.
