Not good today!

Hi all,
Today I got to spend most of my time sitting in front of a computer, doing the job I'm qualified for, rather than standing doing the job I'm mainly employed to do. Yippee!!! BUT, having said that, I feel like I'm in more pain than usual - my left ankle is killing me, as is my left shoulder and left wrist ... never mind my hands, and my right ankle and wrist (my right side is sore, but nowhere near as bad as the left). Which is weird as I was sitting most of the day ... lol! Oh, and I had a headache to boot!
The ankle and shoulder pain is relatively new, about two to three months, and the podiatrist has just referred me to a foot dynamics (not the right term, but I can't think of it) specialist, for examination of my feet. And I've got my follow up with the rheumy on Monday - boy have I got a list for him! Lol!
All this got me thinking, back to the days when the aches were just the wee niggles every 50 something gets, just last year - when, in the snow in early December (before the BIG snow dump), I managed, without a second thought to trudge a mile and a half each way to the station to go to jury duty for three days. Nowadays, I wonder what I would do!
Today's headache was a real pain, as it developed about an hour after my lunchtime pain dullers - not that they seemed to do anything for my OA pain ... but as I've said before I would've noticed if I hadn't taken them!!!
So do I go and see the doc tomorrow about the pain, or do I wait til I've seen the rheumy? Decisions, decisions! My ankle joints actually feel like they're burning now, as do my toes!
Thanks for reading my rant

Not a rant at all and it's good sometimes to get things off your chest. Hope you're feeling a bit better today and have an appointment with your Dr to maybe get your pain relief reviewed. You don't say when you're seeing the Rheumatologist but it might be a bit too long to wait and at least you'll be able to say you've tried a few painkillers. Good luck. Rita.0

That sounded like one rough day, scozzie. I hope you managed to come to a decision about doc v no doc. Sometimes a good night's sleep - if one can get it - does help.
Are you able to stand up and move about frequently at work? Sitting in the same position for long periods is not good for joints.
I hope today is better for you. let's know how you go on.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Oh scozzie
You are welcome to have a rant, has I always say it really does help to get things off your chest
I think we all go over the things we have done in the past, its the hardest part coming to terms with the things you cant do, must say I havent yet...I still give them a go...and then I suffer
I do hope you get some relief very soon, maybe you should be getting up every now and then to get your joints moving...wishing you well with everythingLove

Thanks all,
Today was almost as bad as yesterday, and I didn't sleep to well - my ankles were hot and sore.
Well I did go and see the doc today, a locum, I think, and she has put me on a trial of tramadol until Tuesday ... to give me time to see the rheumy on Monday to see what he says and to see how I react to them.
She gave me a compliment by saying I was too young to have OA, but I am coming up on 52! Which I still consider as not yet middle aged, but still old enough to have this blasted disease!
The doc also said if I was still having trouble sleeping, after trialling the trammies, then they might have to look at putting me on amotriptoline. Oh well, I'll almost try anything at the moment ... lol.
Btw the headache yesterday was caused more by people walking in and out the office where I use my computer and closing the door loudly, ie slamming it, while I was trying to concentrate on what I was doing!
Anyway I hope you all have a great weekend, pain free.

I hope you have a good weekend too, scozzie - or at least as good as you can manage right now. I also hope the tramadol helps. There are quite a few here on that and amytriptilene (which I can't spell!) Good luck!If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Scozzie
It sounds like a tension type headache although worse. Do you have to sit all the time.....my joints get really sore if I sit for long periods. I cant stand for any length of time either.....but i need to get up and walk about a bit.....can you do that whgere you are?
Hope the trammies work with you....the amotriptoline {which i cant spell either sticky } Loads of people on here seem to be on that and they were going to put me on it until they discovered {by me telling them and then they checked} that they disagree with my epilepsy tablets.Others think it is good.
Have as good a weekend as you can
Love

Thanks Sticky and Hileena
You're right Hileena it probably was a tension headache as I was working at electronically copying and pasting on a PDF for which I didn't have the font ... and there were seven pages of it to do. And without being a big head - I am the only person in the company with the necessary skills to do it ... and I did pretty damn good job of it, if I must say so myself ... lol - it would take highly skilled person to find any of the changes I had to make.
I generally work on my feet in a skilled manual capacity and quite liked the idea of getting back to my core skills in front of the computer, unfortunately didn't agree with me either. So at one point I volunteered to help out in the factory for an hour so I could stand up ... no pleasing some people!
One thing I have discovered recently - it's not easy limping on both legs!!!
Take care all
