Feeling sorry for myself - re side effects!

What a rubbish week! I must first and foremost say, my meds are working and my inflammation levels are right down, docs are pleased and I realise there are ppl much worse off than me and I'm lucky!! BUT! I don't feel very lucky this wk, simple as!
I've felt nauseous all week since taking my meth, I've had heartburn every time I've eaten and I've put on over a stone since starting my meds in feb. This may just be a coincidence but I'm much more active than before I was diagnosed, I eat well and yet ive steadily put on weight and its only just occured to me that this could be the reason. Ive never been a size 10 but always happy enough. Has anyone else noticed this?!
I don't really know what I expect from writing this down, just felt like a moan! I'm fed up, I know it's great that I'm mobile etc but sometimes all the other things caused by the meds get me down as much as the active RA did!! :-( Pain in the ****!

shareing helps just getting it out does help so come on when ever you need to side affects well all meds have them and it depends on if they are making things worse than before starting them. not on same meds so can not help with that but if to bad go back to docs and talk it over with them good luck sure some one who can help will be around soon valval0

hi Caz,
its nice to see you but sorry your feeling like this.
the mtx thing i used to get those feelings, and the sickness the lot but went on to injections and its so much easier and has so many less side effects so it might be worth you doing that?
the weight gain... oh flower right there with you.... mine might be down to the pregabs though.... i wish i knew the answer cus exercise is getting increasingly hard eh?
flower bad days come, they make you feel so bad as well but there is always better just round the corner so hang in there. leaving a cyber ((((( ))))) and a hope. Cris x0 -

Hi Cez,
I'm pretty much the same as you really. Side effects can wipe me out, although my arthritis is under control if I pace myself. And I have put on from 7 stone-13 stone since starting on the methotrexate! So makes me feel rubbish.
I have recently joined WW and lost half a stone but the weight loss has slowed right down now. Not really sure what to do nowadays.

I'm sorry if you've told us all this before, Cez, but do you take folic acid alongside the meth? Different docs prescribe different doses but I take one twice a week. Also, I always take all meds with food. (I'm rarely to be found without a banana or a biscuit wrapped in cling film just in case.) As others have said, injected meth is also a possibility. I didn't know that putting on weight was a problem with meth though and I've been on it 10 years or so. Can be with steroids if you're on them.
We all get fed up at times. Sometimes it seems like if the disease doesn't get you the meds will! Feel free to come here any time you need to sound off about it. We all do.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
