I seem to have mixed days, good days and bad days. I pretty much always have some pain, muscle pain, joint pain, or nerve pain. After a good day, comes a bad day. Some days are a blur of pain. I take paracetamol every day, apply cream and take nerve blockers at night. I just want to know, is this normal for OA ? On a good day I feel like my old self. If I overdo it, or do something my body does not like, I feel it next day.

that sounds about right we try to compensate for the bad days by doing to much on the good ones causing our selves more pain life is not fair it all a matter of balance and deciding what is important good luck val

In my experience the good days are the ones when stuff don't hurt as much. I have OA in my knees (which always hurt), I suspect OA in my ankles (which similarly hurt) and psoariatic arthritis (which came first) in the rest of the affected joints. Oh Lola, this does sound par for the course for me so I empathise: as for nerve pain I don't know if that is happening, but daily pain has been a factor now for too many years. It's tough but I/we do know what it is like. Rest, rest and rest some more, it can help. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi
Have a look at Tonys thread....I added to that as well.
It sounds fairly normal....you do have to pace yourself....if you overdo it
you suffer the next day. I had said on his thread i felt depressed because i didnt think I had walked that far [just shows how much worse my mobility is than a year ago}but was so sore
Got oA in hips, spine, neck and ankle and have had one THR

Yes this is how it is.
I had a thread somewhere on here where I just went mad on my good day but boy did I suffer for it.
So now it's a case of if it gets done all well and good if not it wll still be here tomorrow. My housework routine has gone to the wall completely.
Little and often and I no longer feel guilty if my carpet doesn't see the hoover for a few days.
Fortunately I have a good OH who seems to relish cooking at the moment, and he cleans the cooker and worktops afterwards.
    Long may it last.....May

That does sound par for the course I'm afraid. Good days and bad days but it's all a matter of trying to pace yourself. Even when you think you have you can have a bad day the following day if you know what I mean.
Someone said recently that it's important to make the most of the good days and do what you can and enjoy being able to do it. I hope you can find a happy medium somehow.
It might also be an idea to speak to your GP about stronger pain killers if what you're taking is'nt working well enough.
    Big hugs Rita.

Lola, I have Osteoporosis and your post reminds me of me alot. If I do something one day can expect to feel tired the next day, If I do too much one day the next day can expect to not beable to get out of bed the next day! And if I go out where there's a group of people I'm more than likey going to pick up a cold or bug from one of them within the next few days. It really is going from one day to the next with me as I never know how I'm going to feel from one day to the next. Hope this gives you some peace knowing your not alone. Amanda/bubbadog

Yes that does sound like me to , i have OA in a lot of joints horrible is'nt it . I have forgot how it is to have no pain of some sort. Have you asked your GP about a better painkiller perhaps that may help, but to be honest they only seem to dull down the pain. It does seem to help being able to come on the forum and talk to other in the same boat...........all the best Jillyx

Sounds right to me too! Can barely remember my last pain free day, and I've only been noticeably suffering from OA for about nine months or so ... some days are just dull aches, others not so good.

As the others have said - see your GP for stronger pain killers if needs be.
