Hi All,

Just thought I would let you know I called the council this morning to get an update on my blue badge application, they confirmed it had been approved and that it was in the process of being printed - at last some good news.:grin:

So I just wanted to thank those of you who gave me some advice and for those who gave me the confidence to apply without feeling like a fraud.

I have posted off the DLA form this morning so heres hoping that goes well too (although having read some of the threads on here im not too confident!) but I will keep you posted.

I have also applied for a Blue Badge today.

Although I am not on DLA, hopefully that won't cause a problem.

Well done for getting your badge, how did it take for you get approval?

Im not on DLA yet I only sent the form off today so im still hoping on that!.

I applied abour a month ago for my blue badge and telephoned them today as I hadnt heard anything and the cheque hadnt cleared my account and they confirmed over the telephone it was approved and being printed, they said it usually takes between 4-6 weeks. So if you applied and sent all your decouments off today I would give them a call in about 4 weeks and they should be able to tell you if its been approved even if you havnt got the badge yet.

    Good Luck xx

congratulations on getting the badge... I don't know what I'd do without mine.
Do you mind if I ask what the cheque was for?

it's ok. Just looked it up and it's down to the local authority as to wether they charge or not, the maximum being term pound now I think.
Just threw me as I've never paid.

    Best wishes

The cheque was for £2 which is what my local council charge, to be honest id have paid £10 if it meant getting the badge, although my council only charge if your approved if your not they send all your documents, photos and cheque back so I thought that was quite fair.

    Julie,
Congratulations on getting the badge; I couldn't manage without mine.
Here in Kent you have to pay £2 (or did when I re-applied last year) but they pocket the money whether or not you are given the badge. To be fair, they do put on the application form that the £2 fee is non-refundable.
At least now you'll be able to park on double yellow lines to get as near as possible to your destination/s. Make sure you "don't cause a hazard" though!
Never leave your badge in the car overnight - as they tend to be stolen in some areas of the UK.
    Grace.

I too have to pay £2, my BB is a godsend. Read the rules carefully though, when your's comes through, there are some stipulations about use. You can obtain a BB lockable holder from the RADAR shop, that is a good deterrent to theft. I never leave mine in the car and I am getting one of these holders for Christmas, to stop someone smashing my window to get mine. (Trust my fellow man not to do the dirty on poor disabled little me? Not nowadays. ) DD
