I have R. A . ( 2 years ) , and have been on various medication and enbrel injections ( that helped to a degree , but after a few months found the strength in my hands weakening , and was unable to continue ) . Now have seen the rheu` nurse and am now to try infliximab infusions next month , as in the hospital clinic . So over the past few months the R.A. has progressed and now get a great deal of pain , especially along my shoulders and tops of arms . As well as the usual places. I am a new member to the forum and would like to know if anyone has this pain at the tops of their shoulders and arms ? And is there anyone having these infliximab infusions and how effective are they and any side effects ? Many Thanks , Crabtree.

I had infliximab a few years ago for my PA, the infusions were a doddle (if a little time consuming) and I was very lucky in that I had no side effects whatsoever, however others on here have not been so lucky. We are all different in what works and what doesn't, in how we react to the meds and I hope it proves to be a successful treatment for you. As for pain, well, the toes, ankles, knees, sacro iliacs and hands are constantly twanging away, with the wrists, elbows and neck joining in from time to time. Good luck with the inflixi, I hope it helps. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hi Crabtree and welcome. I hope your new med works for you. I haven't taken it. I do however have pain in shoulders and neck etc and it really hurts, you have my sympathy.

You should let your rheumy know about any new joint involvement. I have also had bursitis in my shoulders. Neck arthritis can manifest itself as shoulder pain, so make sure you inform your doc.

    Take care
