I finally got my letter today regarding my xray results..

"I am writing to let you know that the xray of your back, hips and pelvis did not show any clinically significant abnormalities other than some wear and tear changes"

Am i too presume that this means i have OA in these areas??
Will ask doc tomorrow when i see her..

    Tracy,

After such a long wait and then this is all you get! It's so, so frustrating.

Yes, I'd talk them through with the GP if it was me. My understanding is that "wear & tear" = OA.

I'm still struggling with this flaming hip of mine; GPs don't know what to suggest becos I can't take anti-inflams.

So - if you hear a rattling noise - it'll be coming from Kent and it'll be me with 8x50mg Tramadol a day and 8xParacetamol a day.

Good luck at the Drs - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

    Take care,
    Grace.

Yes that is what i thought, wear and tear is OA..It would be so much easier if he had wrote your xray results showed you have osteoarthritis of .... and no other abnormalities were found.. I would understand that straight away lol..
What i don't get is They say OA is age related but my hips and back have all started causing me problems since my inflammatory arthritis symptoms started??? so has the inflammatory arthritis brought out the OA??? quite baffling eh, GP will love me tomorrow, maybe when i have MRI that may explain a bit more..

Grace we can rattle together luvie lol..Have you thought of talking to GP about other meds to help with your pain..I can have days when the tramadol and paracetamol don't touch me it is horrid..

Hope you feel bit better soon..x

That sounds like OA to me, traluvie, possibly at the mild end of the scale (yes, I know that sounds ludicrous) but it does say changes, not deterioration. Cold comfort I know, I'm sorry. I reckon a natter with the GP at your next visit is a plan. Chin up girl, at least you know now. ((())) DD

Hi Traluvie, glad you got the x ray results but shame they are confusing. I have inflammatory arfur and I am sure it causes or speeds up OA in some way as I have it in my neck and spine.

Hope the gp expalins it for you.

I think wear & tear = OA, Traluvie. It might be mild damage but that's no indication of the pain involved. Talk it over with someone in the know. I hope it goes well.

Oddly enough, I found my RA was far more painful in the early stages. Now that the damage has been done it isn't as bad. (That was supposed to help. Maybe I shouldn't try!) OK Bottle's just gone into the fridge. We'll give it half an hour.

I am not expecting miracles julie, i am guessing the plan will be too carry on as i am lol..Suppose you kind of get used to it..I am aware that nothing can be done for OA unless it is very bad, I am 32 and am only just at the beginning of it really, but i have learnt to deal with things as they are and not to expect miracles, My inflammatory arthritis is kind of under control so for that i am grateful and will carry on taking each day as it comes and trying to keep smiling :lol::wink:

Sticky That wine ready yet..?? could do with a glass just about now lol..

    Hi All,

Had a lovely chat with my GP she is so nice, she listens which is so important,
She believed that the results mean minor OA, I said i don't look forward to when it gets bad lol..I asked her what the paln was and she said to try and control the pain, she believes the gabapentin will help, if my pain doesn't improve she wants me to go back, but i said it is up and down..
I talked to her about dla and my esa and she is happy to support me..
So all in all a good appointment and now i know about the osteo thats one less thing to worry about and i know what to expect..xx

    Thanks for asking..xx

Glad the appointment went well, and that you have a good relationship with your GP. Glad to that you will get pain management for your OA and that she will support you with your DLA and ESA. It's nice to know you had a positive appointment.
