Hi all,

i wonder if anyone can shed some light on the following results i've received today. The doctor has diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis, following palindromic pattern and I am going to see him next week.

I just wondered if anyone knows what these mean for me?
it states i have positive rheumatoid factor but no number.
anti ccp with a value of 200.
ESR 12mm/hr

Thank you

Hi Millie, ESR is Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate, it measures inflamation. Less than 20 in women is good.
Anti CCP ( Anti-Cyclic Citrullinated Petide) is a new diagnostic test to hel confirm R.A, Spelling is probably wrong.

If in doubt google both,

My ESR was never below 25 , but even that is fine according to my ex rheummy!!

    Good luck.xx

I did used to know what they mean, but dont get mine either other than they are 'ok' or nothing to worry about.

BUT l did used to understand them

think the esr was to do with the rate that blood settles in a test-tube less than so many mm/hour is ok l think....

worth asking the helplines??? l know they dont staff them usually out of hours....but they will surely get back to you tomorrow?

    Love

    Toni xx

Thanks guys. I had a bit of a Google but can't find much about normal anti ccp readings.
