Hiya,
Just wondering if anyone has had a steroid injection into the wrist before? I have had one into one of my fingers before and it wasn't as bad as a feared, in fact I barely felt it.
However this time my Rheumatologist has said I have to stay off work the following day and not drive for the 24 hours immediately afterwards so not sure if its going to be a bit more sore than the finger injection?
Anyways, just wondering if anyone had any experience / tips / reassurance about it Having it next thursday so not too long to wait I guess!
Jonny

Hi Jonny
I've had one..it was fine no different than in the fingers, it just seemed a slightly longer procedure but that may have been down to the doctor who administered it.
The advice they gave about using ice a few hours later if its painful worked
and maybe its best to take the advice not to drive for a day.
I didn't feel it had been of any benefit for a week or so and after that it kicked in and was a success.
Hope it goes well.

I was told that fter any steroid injection it's best to rest the infected joint for at least 24 hours so as to give the stuff time to 'sink in' to the joint and begin to work, rather than pushing it all out of the joint by using it. I hope it helps, and yes, rest it as much as you can for as long as you can to give it the best chance. Good luck. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi I've had both wrists injected twice and the first time I was really worried it would hurt a lot, but in fact, it was no more painful than any other injection and a lot less so than some. I think in my case it was the thought of having an injection in my wrist that scarred me! x:oops: Sue0

Thanks guys!
Yeah I was really worried about the finger injection the first time but it was really barely noticeable if i'm honest and it did my finger a lot of good!
I guess I will just need to man up and try not to worry about it and look forward to the benefits of it0 -

Good luck, do let us know how you get on ... I'm having one of my ankles injected next Friday, and other on the following Friday, if the first one makes a difference. I was also told to rest it for at least 24 hours afterwards.
I must say I am a little nervous about it, but if it stops my ankles hurting all the time then it'll be worth it.

I had one in my left wrist and in my fingers at the same time, to be honest the finger one’s hurt but not so much at all in the wrist. I felt like my wrist was broken and after a couple of days it was wonderful and touch wood I have not anywhere near the same problems since and that was about two years ago.
I was told not to use it for at least 48 hours so if you can try and rest it as much as possible.

Just a quick update
Had this on Thursday last week, it actually wasn't painful at all, just a wee bit of pressure for about 30 seconds and it was all done!
Woke up the next morning and my wrist was feeling great, better than it has in months and had almost the full range of motion back so i'm pretty happy!
Thanks for all the advice you all gave
