Seeing new rheumy on Monday

I feel like I'm falling apart at the moment. My currently flare up is showing no signs of subsiding, I have bursitis in my shoulder, my right arm is weak and painful, my knees and ankles are sore, my big toe has been randomly swelling up and hurting, my neck is stiff and keeps crunching, my children have been quite poorly with a cold virus which they've now given to me and I've been overdoing it around the house trying to tidy up because my husband is fitting a new laminate floor this weekend.

But I know every cloud has a silver lining - I know I'll be in perfect health on Monday because I'm going to see my new rheumy for the first time. It doesn't mater how bad I've been feeling, they never seem to find anything wrong so I'm really looking forward to Monday :) LOL!

    Good luck for Monday Claire.
If you haven't already taken photos please do so asap and take them with you - it's evidence they can't dispute! I always take lists when I see my ortho cons - so useful as I normally get into the consult room and my brain empties!
Please let us know how you get on.
    Grace.

    Thanks for the replies.

My swelling is mild and comes and goes so unfortunately it doesn't show up very well on photographs. Also it's usually at it's worst in the evenings so when I turn up for appointments in the morning they always say "I can't see any swelling".

I got a bit cross at the last registrar I saw, he was adamant there was no swelling on the inside of my knee, I had to show him where my knee was all puffy, he prodded it, I nearly hit the roof with the pain and he still said it wasn't swollen and there was no problem with my joints! For all I know it might not be arthritis and I know I'm not medically trained but when the bit of flesh right next to a joint is puffy, tender and painful it probably means something isn't quite right...

I just hope this rhuemy is up for the challenge. Fingers crossed eh?

I'm back from my appointment. I was questioned, prodded and poked. I apparently have some tender points but no evidene of arthritis. He didn't order any tests but is going to write to the doctors I've seen recently to get a better picture and I'm going back to see him in 3 months.

I still have no idea what is wrong with me but at least he didn't fob me off like the last registrar did.

    Hi Clair

sorry i missed pocket duty, but I am pleased that even though you didn't get a definate answer the rheumy is going to write to your gps to find out more about you. Hopefully when you go back in 3 months he will have a better picture and start sending you for more tests.

Hope you are able to cope with any medication you have until then

    Love Juliepf x
