RESULTS OF VISIT TO ORTHO TODAY

Hi,
Well for the first time I didnt see the usual ortho. I suppose its not a bad thing to get another opinion.
Was sent for an x ray on both hips. Operated one hasnt moved so thats OK. He's not sure whether its referred pain from arthur in my back to my hip or referred pain from my hip to my back. I have arthur in hips, lower spine ankle and neck......also scoliosis in my back just to confuse things :lol:
Did blood tests for inflammation etc.
The next thing is to come in for day surgery in Feb. Aspirate my hip which has been done...just a check.
Then another appt which I havent got yet to come in for another day surgery. This one is an injection into the un operated hip. If it takes the pain away......that means its in the hip and I will need the second THR but if it doest work that means that its probably in the back......dont know where we go from there. :sad:
I think thats it.......doesnt sound much but took 3 hours in the hospital.

    Talk about being on par,I am waiting to have an injection in my right hip...had one in the left when they did the camera thingy...and yeah they say the same..if it works then its your hip ..if it doesn't its your back...we cant win really can we...my first one didnt work , so not sure what this one will do,

    that's what Barbara is having done that jab to test out if it's the hip or not before doing surgery. I think that's a good idea x:-)

    Was a very interesting visit and l agree always good to get a diferent opinion isn't it?

    Why are you having a 2nd one Barbara? My first one is to check if the first THR is OK the 2nd one is the diagnostic one??? You say first one didnt work......does that mean you felt no pain? Or that you still felt pain. Sorry the brain is like scrambled egg tonight....after that and Christmas shopping afterwards LOL
    Thanks Toni. You can imagine my thoughts when my lovely ortho didnt come in....but it was good to get someone elses opinion....although I saw him out in the corridor talking to Mr Assaad about me as I was going to the x ray dept.

    Well, this sounds like a plan to me, even if it's not quite the plan you were wanting/anticipating. I reckon the theory is good, i.e. inject the hip and if that sorts it we know what's what but yes, I can see the uncertainty that could result if is doesn't. :sad: Bother. Well you are done now so I hope that after the required rumination on the what ifs etc you can put it to the back of your mind and enjoy the festive season. DD

    Hi Hileena the first one was done while I was under anaesthetic...they put a camera in my hip to see what was going on...now they have decided to inject my other hip...and if that doesn't help the pain...then most of it is coming from my back...but I honestly think both are painful...to be honest I dont know if it will hurt..like I say I was asleep...ooh I bet you are more confused now...sorry

    Sorry I'm late....you wouldn't believe how long I was in the hospital with my sister.
    Well...sounds about right.I personally think my pains are from my hip,physio says back...ortho disagrees with her.
    At least you will know eventually.Sounds like a reasonable appointment.
    Sorry...I'm half asleep...ankles cracking...oh lovely.

    Yes DD....its a plan.....an no appt until Feb. so thats it until after Christmas....refuse to worry about it :lol:

    Thanks for the explanation Barbara.....I feel the same as you.....both are sore {back and hips}but I think its coming from my back. Oh well hopefully we'll see. Sorry if I missed it but have you got a date for it?

    May.......I didnt expect to hear from you today. I was just about to pm you about Jackie and how you are but I'll leave it until you ring and find out more. Yes my ortho and physio disagreed with whether it was back or hips.....what was referred from what :lol: Back specialist in RVI just said {about 18 months ago} Nothing can be done sorry.....Oh well....I'll start thinking about it In Jan sometime {after Christmas}
