    Hi Josie
I take Lanzaprozole before I get out of bed ..at least half an hour before breakfast and they work fine.

Saying that it took me a long time before I could tolerate the sulfa at the right dose even with the stomach protectors ..but the rheumy insisted I persevered.
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Josie

I would suggest that you return to your gp and say what you have told us and discuss what may suit you better.

On doing some research on the net, just now, I found out from a study undertaken that Esomeprazole may be more effective than omeprazole, lansoprazole, and pantoprazole for the rapid relief of heartburn symptoms and acid reflux symptoms in patients with reflux esophagitis.

You could mention this and see what he/she thinks.

I am a little bemused, is your name Josie or Viv?

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

Hello Elna , Firstly I want thank you for taking the time and trouble to research the `prazole meds . I tried to do this myself, without success in finding out the strongest one of the family . I shall ask the DR . to transfer me to the Esomeprazole next time I see him . Yes , I am Josie with RA and my partner is Viv with P.R. Also , I do not have a pc at home , whilst Viv does . You see, do not live together, an hour apart . As Viv has become more immobile , I spend as many days here , before I have to go back to check the post , etc .josie .

Hi Cris , Thank you , I shall go back to the GP , and ask for esomeprazole 40 gms , and yes , I shall let you know . I want to say a big thank you to yourself and all of you whom have replied to me with huge help and support . RA came on very quickly 3 yrs ago . I was a F/T health care support worker on a busy burns and plastics unit , for 30 yrs . I came back from a late shift and had to walk up the stairs on my feet , and did not think anything of it , just a busy shift . Over the next few months , I had to slow up and often sit down during work . And had pain and stiffness , etc . The hospital dismissed me on incapability due to ill-health this past July . They did not put in place any reasonable adjustments , etc . so I am looking at unfair dismissal . I was taking home £250 a week , now £87.00. and living on some savings. Well, many thanks, again , Josie.
