Have asked to see my consultant

Well I have decided that enough is enough.
Since the weather has changed I have been getting worse with my RA. I am also really tense when I am walking on the ice and this is also causing me to be sore.
I have emailed my consultant this morning to see if I can get an appointment to see him and get me put on injections. (At the moment I am on Meth tablets).
I don't want to go through the rest of the winter like this.
Does anyone know how the injections work? Suspect I will get it in my bum!

I had injected meth up at the hospital for a good while - over two years I think - and it was always done in the arm. To be frank I found having to go there every week a real chore (although it was great when I went away as I missed a dose or two!) then they saw the light and gave me permission to do my own - now I only have to go once a month to collect the jollop and when I go away I have to take all the gubbins with me. Every area seems to vary in how it's carried out and I hope they agree to the change for you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi
I have been on MTX for about 11 years now and have had both oral and injected. Never have done the injections myself for this drug though. Had to visit hospital every Friday and they did the inj in my thigh. I am now back on 12.5 mgs per week tablets, along with an assortment of other stuff.
Never had any problems with either tablets or injections, hope it goes well for you.

Hi, I hope you get the injections and that they work for you.
I've not had them, but people on here have had a good result from them, I think.
Also walking on ice is something I hate and I think the more you try not to slip and feel nervous, the harder it becomes to keep your balance. Well, thats me anyway :!:

Hi
Im on MTX injections, 20mg but going up to 25mg next week. Ive been on it for 5 years with no problems I cant take the tablets as Im allergic to potato and the tablets have potato starch in them. Once settled on a dose mine were delivered to my home every 2-3 months they phone me to arrange delivery. I do them in my stomach varying each side week to week as I have fibromyalgia so no way could I stick a needle in my thighs and much as Ive tried Im not flexible enough to stick it in my bum  my fam are all wimps and dont do needles or they could do my bum shot occasionally to give my stomach a rest.
I was quite shocked DD to hear you have to collect yours  I even get my sharps bins collected and replaced at my doorstep. and any needles, gloves, plasters cotton swabs etc.. too.
Lucky me

That happens for the humira, Theresa, but the meth is dealt with by the local hospital. It's no big deal and still easier than going up weekly for someone else to do what I can do! What will be a nuisance come the New Year is going back to fortnightly blood tests as that is when they are increasing the meth to 20. Ugh. That is a total bind. DDHave you got the despatches?
