First ankle jab yesterday

Hi all, had my first cortisone jab in my right ankle yesterday - it's still a bit achy and burning but nothing too much. I'm currently in the post jab resting period and I'm trying avoid too much weight/flexion on it when I do have to stand up.
Whilst the jab itself wasn't too bad, no worse than a dental jab - although you physically can't watch that jab ... lol! I did become a bit worried when the lady in the cubicle across from me let out a pained yelp/scream a minute or two before mine was administered.
Now I have to wait a few days to see if it makes any difference, because if it doesn't I have to cancel next Friday's left ankle jab.
I'm looking forward to the jab working to ease things as I'm sick of limping/hobbling when both feet are aching. My right ankle limp is putting stress on my left knee, which at times, I feel needs the jab more than my ankles ... lol! At times, recently, my knees feel like it's the knee caps that're hurting more than the joints.
Take care, Scozzie

    Hi Scozzie,
I've had cortisone jabs in the ankle and for me they did help, everyone is different of course, so just because something has worked for one doesn't mean that it will work for all, but hopefully, you'll see some benefit x:-D I think you are very wise to rest the ankle as much as you can after the injection, it can take a couple of days but, it really does make a difference when it works. The knees could be referred pain, but think maybe you should mention it to your consultant next time you see them, do you have a Rheumy nurse you could ring and get some advice from? I've learnt not to ignore any new joints that are hurting, better to be proactive rather than reactive x:-) thinking of you Scozzie and really hope you get a break from the pain, limping and hobbling around, I know it's tough.
Hang in there, we'll all help and support you if we can. X

    Hi Scozzie

Glad you are doing as were advised and resting your ankle as much as possible. I hope within the next day or too that the injection helps and that you are able to have your other on friday. Fingers crossed for you.

    Have a good weekend

    Thanks Poppy, Toni and Julie
My ankle does feel better this morning, but I haven't had to get up on it yet!
Poppy my knees have already been diagnosed with OA, as have my feet (including ankles), wrists and hands (there's pain and/or stiffness of some sort in every finger joint - to varying degrees).
My right knee has made grinding noises for years (at least 15), but not hurt til recently. Whereas my left knee has been quiet and was only painful if I climbed a lot of stairs or did hill climbing up until the last year - now it's sore whenever I walk up or down stairs (haven't climbed any hills for quite a while ... lol), but knee cap thing is new. It felt like there was calcification of the knee caps rubbing against the joints when walking up and down stairs. I've added that to my list for next rheumy appointment, they haven't given me a rheumy nurse to contact, but they did give the rheumy's secretary's number to call - for a reason I can't remember (rheumy appointments can be information overload :???: ).
Ok must get up and try my foot out and have a shower.
Thank you for your replies, scozzie

Hi all, as today was scheduled to be turn of my left ankle to get a cortisone injection I thought I should give you all an update.

As you would probably gather from the above paragraph, I didn't go in for the jab - although the right ankle has been great this week not causing me to limp one bit! However, I am limping again due to a wee accident at work on Tuesday ... I knocked my upper right shin getting down from the forklift (well battered it really). The result was a four inch, yes four inch, v-shaped gash which didn't quite go deep enough to expose the bone.

Although it hurt a great deal at the time, and required a trip to the hospital in an ambulance and about 15 to 20 stera strips to hold the wound close and is still bleeding a little, it does hurt much. Stairs are more of a problem in both directions, as are most things - even lying in bed ... lol. Oh well three days off work with my feet up (no choice really).

Hope you all have a pain free Christmas and New Year.

Goodness Scozzie, what a week!!! Rest up and take care of yourself. I had steroid injections into hip and shoulder and found them to be of benefit. I hope you find the same.

    Take care

Scozzie! Oh no, you poor thing, I am so sorry. That sounds like a very deep wound indeed so make sure you do everything you can to help it to heal. It sounds as though you have no option but to rest which is no bad thing! Take care. DD
