Oh Lord my back hurts!

What can I do?! It's agony.
I spent a week in hospital last week and it didn't hurt at all but soon as I move it kills. I've become a grumpy monster.
I've had an xray and MRI on my lower spine which didn't show anything but the pain is higher up from between my shoulder blades downwards. I'm sure its muscular as it seems to spasm but I really don't know what to do to help myself.
I've become quite despondent with my consultant. I'm going to ask for a second opinion next time I see him (in about 2013). He saw me while I was in hospital as they didn't know if my problem was related to the Cimzia I'm taking. He was so dismissive of any and all of my problems that I became quite upset when I left. He seems to think that telling me its the fibro will make the pain go away. He's a nice guy and I've written to him recently saying I was upset but although he replied he didn't really get it.
I'm seeing an osteopath and starting pilates. I'm even planning to see a homeopathist.
But day to day living is becoming intolerable. The pain is untrue and I even got stuck bent over whilst I was getting Harry into his pushchair today.
Anyone got any suggestions? I feel really quite low. (whispers) I'm also a little bit worried I'm becoming depressed because of this stagnation I feel with my treatment and the daily pain and suffering.
Help.

oh dear jenzie I am sorry that you are feeling so down,
I can not advise you but it sounds as though you already have a plan which to me sounds a good one.
I hope things start to ease for you soon.

Dear Jen
Sorry you are suffering so much at the moment.
I get something which may or may not be similar to this....almost bewteen/under shoulder blades??
the only thing which helps is rest, heat and anti-inflams for me.
Love and sympathetic hugs

Oh dear Jen, constant pain is so lowering and just drains you. Its worse when you are not sure what is causing it.
Have you tried physio? They are usually pretty good at working out what causes what. If its muscular they can help. My cervical spondylosis causes the muscles to spasm and its horrible. Heat, and muscle relaxants help somewhat.
Are you taking meds for fibro?? Do they help at all? Amitriptyline is good for muscle pain I have found. Can make you a bit groggy the next day though.
Take care0 -
Poor you. Long soak and a hot water bottle, the most comforting thing in the world.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
Hi Jenzie, I'm so sorry your suffering with your back at the moment, I know you feel as though you want a 2nd opinion at the moment but I think you should talk it out with you G.P, If you have a good relationship with your G.P then they can open many doors for you and always remember you know your body best! I can't do pilates and I have Fibro as well as Osteoporosis but to be honest with you I can't do pretty much any health thing! You are very lucky you can still do those things! I would love to be still able to do all the things you do.
Hope you get well soon, and I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the things sorted with your consultant.0
