Typical val x:roll: could they not have phoned through to the consultant? it was the hospital pharmacy yes?

I think I would wait to start taking them until your own gp gets the go ahead to prescribe them to you. That way you won't have a break in taking them. Hopefully the letter will come through really quickly. Keep ringing them to see if it has arrived

Val, hope you can get it sorted. What a nuisance for you. You need to start slowly with the sulfa, so make sure you get full info.

    Take care

Safety first indeed: the usual drill with sulph is one in the morning for one week, then one in the morning and one in the evening for one week, then a double dose in the morning and one in the evening for one week etc until you reach the stipulated dose but yes, wait until you get clarification from the hospital. Hopefully you will be able to start them soon. DD

    hi Val,

i think its better to wait till you have a months worth or at least got the docs to confirm its on repeat.... better to be late starting than start, stop and re-start i think. silly though isn;t it cus well they could confirm the quantify they want fairly easily..... hang in there and hope they will work for you. Hi Valval,

I started on this a few weeks ago and the regime was as stated above - 1 tablet per day for 1 week, then 2 per day for 1 week, then 3 per day for 1 week and 4 per day afterwards. I agree, keep chasing your GP to see if they have got the letter to prescribe, especially with the christmas break on its way.

One thing I wasn't warned about but is apparently normal - it sends you wee BRIGHT ORANGE - bit of a shock if you're not expecting it.

    Good luck

The orange thing surprised me too!
Make sure you take them with or after food so that they aren't as harsh on your tummy. They take a while to click in but they certainly help my RA-just that I rattle from all the pills now!
Good luck with them, hope they help.

No-one warned you about the yellow wee? Now that is surprising as it is a standard effect but they can also affect soft contact lenses - it's worth a read of the label that comes with the pills as that should give you the full information. DD

    Hi Val,
I hope your MIL is all sorted and you have a better day tomorrow. Such a worry for everyone.

Fingers crossed you get some more positive information re the new meds, it does sound as if your rheumy is going to keep an eye on you.
