Woo-hoo! I have one tomorrow at 11am. I received the letter and instructions today so I'm all set. Pocket duties are not required because a) everyone is busy, b) this is very late notice and c) it sounds like an absolute doddle so I am quite happy to go on me todd. I am not the slightest bit worried about it, it will show what it will show and I will take it from there. I am pleased to be having one though, obviously my rheumatology consultant took a different view to the one who has turned it down twice. Hah! That's one in the eye for you, matey-boy! I'm now orf to find me sexy navy leggings, fluffy socks and a huge long-sleeved Tshirt to wear for tomorrow (I don't wanna get cold on the table!) DD

Hope all goes well tomorrow. Well done on having the persistence to get the rheumy to listen. Wish they were all good at listening-some seem to think we want this stupid disease and all it brings with it. Good luck. x0

Yet again your kindness is overwhelming - thank you everyone! The Clatterator will be staying behind as it won't be too far to walk from whichever car park I end up in, I must remember to shave the pasty white lumpy appendages I call legs to render them slightly less hairy so that hopefully a clearer picture of what's what can be obtained and yup, the bruises are lovely! All together now
'Red and yellow and pink and black,
Greeny and purply and blue,
I look like a rainbow,
Yes a rainbow,
Hurt me and I'll make you one tooooo.'
I'm looking forward to it - what's not to like? About 20 - 30 minutes of lying still for a jolly good reason - get in! DD

DD They are a doddle compared to all the other scans.
No tunnel...no music..mine took 15 minutes....while I was asked loads of questions...which they already knew the answers to.
Glad you got one...will be thinking of you.May0 -

Hope all goes well for you. I had one of these scans in 2003 and it show up that I had some osteoporoses in my spin. However my GP did not start giving me treatement for it until 2006 and that was after an xray in my neck.
Best of Luck0 -
I'm in you pocket DD.....hope everything goes well for you.......will you get the results today?.... I've had 2 and the first one she gave me the results that day and then wrote to GP ....the second one it took a while before I heard.

Hello everyone, and thank you all again, what a lovely bunch of people you are. I am looking forward to it but there is a small technical hitch - the leggings are AWOL, so I think what I'll do is wear one of my nighties instead - under my long rain coat and my lovely knee high leather boots. No-one will know until I whip of the coat and ta-da! Miss DD is ready to go. Alternatively I'll do another sweep for the leggings. Right, it's time for a cuppa. DDHave you got the despatches? You clot! I cheerfully admit to a certain degree of density on a variety of levels, so I hope the bones are included. After five years of pred - OK not mahoosive doses but - I want to know. I really do. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I've found the words now, Julie. Thank you and bless you for taking the time to reply to this thread today of all days. You are a lovely lady, kind, gracious and so warm-hearted, I am very lucky to know you. I will be thinking of you and Richard so very much over the next few days. Hugs and love. Good news! The spine looks fine, the hips are a little down on the norm for a female of my age, but as the nurse was not unduly worried by that it's onwards and sideways with the calcuim plus vitamins D and K - and no Alendronic Acid required! Reeeeeesult! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thats good news DD, one thing to cross off the list!!!!0

Nice one, DD. Looks like coming off the pred will prove to have been a good move and maybe at just the right time. It was a big achievement. Well done again. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I am now in my fourth (or is it the fifth) week sans pred and oh boy, can I feel it, but this is the spur I need to battle on and get through. I honestly cannot be bothered to re-start the alendronic - that med was always a slap round the chops with a wet fish as far as I was concerned - so I shall return al the unused pred to the Chemist on Monday. Christmas will be interesting.
I must admit that the joints are protesting today post-scan. Never mind, the good news makes that worthwhile. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
