I posted on here a while ago and you lovely people answered some questions for me, I now have another.

I know I have arthritis in my hip and in my lumber spine and I know
About referred pain also , but the pain I am experiencing in my thigh is worrying me and wander does anyone else experience anything similar?

I seem to experience this pain more as I go to sit down or raise my leg
The pain just seems to grip the whole of the top of my leg down to the
Knee each time it happens it makes me squeal with the pain.

I am receiving physio and it is my left leg that is causing the pain, but after my last physio I could hardly walk with the pain in my right groin. I have also noticed swelling in my knuckles and my doc has referred me to a rheumatologist as she is suspecting fibromyalgia as I also get so tired,
I had my bloods done but were pretty much clear except for one result she mentioned did show some inflammation.

Will be so grateful to read of other peoples experiences. Elaine :-)

I have RA and I often suffer a very servere pain in the top of my leg, it starts at my knicker line and runds down my thigh and is particularly painful when i raise my knee to maybe put on socks or climb stairs.

I have noticed that it usually comes on after a heavy day at work particularly if i have been doing a lot of 'low level' work which involves squatting or bending down and it usually hits me the following morning.

Ibuprofen usually does the trick for me.

    Good luck Petals

I have RA and have a pain uin my left hip that spreads from behind my hip right down the front of my leg to my knee i have had an mri scan and it showed bursitis in several places which makes it more painful when i try to move my leg in certain ways putting socks on is a particularly bad thing for me and the more i walk the more painful it gets.

It is worth getting this checked out blogblog123 just to be sure of what is causing it.

    Hi Blogblog

    Good to see you again.

Some have mentioned pain in their thighs when they are waiting for hip surgery.

In your shoes l would be mentioning this next time you see 'someone' and if there isn't a 'someone' booked soon make an appointment with your GP. Definitely the physio needs to know incase the treatment is aggavating it.

    Take care

    Love

Hi, I have RA and like Petals I have the pain in my right hip when I have been leaning forward or bending. Thankfully it usually eases up after resting it over night.

Take some notes for your appointment in January and do let us know how you get on.

Thank you ironic, yes that's just how it effects me the slightest bit of pressure like leaning forward, sitting on a low seat or raising to put a sock on and even holding anything heavy shopping bags etc causes pain. I have been keeping daily notes of how its is effecting me.:-) x

The pain in my leg is always aggravated by sitting down. The pain initially started as hip pain then extended to thigh and lower leg. NHS walk in centre nurse told me it’s sciatica, problem with the sciatic nerve. However, doctor examined and confirmed it is not sciatica. My consolation is I can walk, raise leg, have a go at golf and swim with no pain at all. Sitting down on hard chairs the common office chairs that irritate it. I can sit comfortably in front of the telly on the armchair with better cushions.

As I have posted on another thread doctors told me sprays and gels don’t work. That may be debatable. Anyhow Ibuprofen tends to work, but doctors had to change it because it has adverse side effects at my age. So they prescribed Naproxen and other tablet to counteract side effects. However Naproxen gave me a stomach ache and doctors suggested me to stop taking Naproxen.
It was a big blow, but I took it well and it seems Paracetamol works as good as Naproxen or whatever!

I have also noticed swelling in my knuckles and my doc has referred me to a rheumatologist as she is suspecting fibromyalgia as I also get so tired,
Following painless physical activity that may be similar to physiotherapy, the posture that is mainly sitting on an office chair, bus or train seat, that brings the worst symptoms of pain is causing increased level of pain. That is similar to saying it may be the activities that cause the pain.
But it is fair to say that it is not activities that cause the pain, but the physical activities and what causes the symptoms of pain which is (in my case) sitting on a hard seat are incongruous.
In my opinion and doctors who have encouraged me to swim, activities are good for general fitness and health, increase the blood circulation and reduce the overall level of pain in normal daily life.
Indeed benefit of physical activity may depend on exactly what the ailment is – such as arthritis or joint pain, muscular pain or sciatica and such like.
I am shouting like this because I believe my problem is mostly a muscular pain that the medical profession does not take seriously, and I intend to go on full monty doing these painless activities especially the swimming even if it is a challenge for me.
