    Thank you all for your good wishes. What a grand day I had too. The family had been keeping secrets from me and it was wonderful.

    10.30 knock at the door and there was Lucie's mum with her other granddaughter, little 2 year old Zoe and a beautiful homemade table arrangement made with greenery, white and yellow roses and a candle and bow. I was expecting Lucie and Lola around 12.30 so did the ironing to get uptodate. Knock at the door at noon and it was my daughter. Such a lovely surprise. It is a long time since I have seen her on my actual birthday if it falls on a week day. Bottle of champagne, (she knows what I like and an M&S voucher and an invitation to go to theirs early in the New Year for champagne and a three course meal. Knock on the door, Lucie and Lola with a helium girlie balloon chosen by Lola and a huge bottle of my favourite perfume. Lola helped me open so many cards from friends and family and a couple of presents. Back door opens, Ian is home - he took a half day's holiday from work.Yet another surprise. We all walked into town for a late lunch. Oh, yes before that, Lucie brought in a birthday cake with one candle alight on it and Lola sang me happy birthday. So we all had a slice of that. Ian and I were going out to eat in the evening but with all the other surprises, I could not eat another meal. So it was, just us two, glasses of wine and snacks and I found places for all my cards. I had such a lovely day and it was very different from what I thought it was going to be like. I am a lucky lady and have so much to be grateful and thankful for.

    I have my three month spinal post op appointment with the consultant at 3.00 pm today so am hoping that goes well for me.

    Thank you all once again and to Del for starting the thread.

    I'm glad you had such a lovely birthday, Elna, and I hope that your appointment went well.

    I had to smile that you caught up with the ironing on your birthday.
    It's good to know that you are still doing the ironing for all the members of the IHTIC
    ( I Hate The Ironing Club ) on here. Keep up the good work x:lol: x:lol:
