Hi Everyone out there.

Just wanted to say that I have just registered on the site, as wanted to make a fresh start for 2012. I have been "living" with arthritis (but trying to ignore it) since 19 (now 37), I live in the South East of England. Married and have 2 beautiful girls 11 & 8. I have OA in both knees and have now started to have steriod injections in my hip as think that this is giving up the ghost too !! Smile and carry on !

It is really hard sometimes to keep going and postive, and was upgraded to stage 3 OA in Feb 2011. Apparently stage 4 means a new knee but at 37 / 38 not likely to happen at the moment. So if anyone has any pointers/tips etc please send them my way, and they will all be considered. Happy New Year to you all
x

Hello, it's lovely to meet you though I am sorry you have had to find us. I have OA in my knees and ankles as a result of psoriatic arthritis in those joints so I can empathise with the discomfort - it's not fun, is it? Ignoring something does not (unfortunately) make it go away but I can assure you you are not alone in doing that or in having arthritis. I too am awaiting new knees but I have to be 55 (that's easily done as the time will pass) and at least three stones lighter than I am now (hmmmm, bit of a challenge that one!) Your age should not be a barrier to replacements and be prepared to fight for them, yes? They can make a great deal of difference to the quality of life and that is the important factor. The forum is pretty quiet at the moment with the festive season (and maybe the odd hangover here and there! ) but I am sure others will spot your post and reply. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Sounds like you have had this ghastly disease for a while now, but i think no matter how long you have suffered it doesn't make it any easier.

Hi Kirsty, lovely to meet ya. Hope you enjoy the site and meet some lovely people, as i have, on here. The support from others is second to none.

It is not good having it for so long then realising its time to face up to it. Just because you are facing up to it means it hasnt won you are by battling everyday and carrying on and living your life.

You keep smiling, even through gritted teeth Eh Tracy!!:?:

Take care n see ya about.

Sorry to hear of you problems. I for one can't understand why someone of your age has to suffer for so many years before they will sort your knees out instead of doing it while you can get the most out of the benefits of being more able. Think they should re-think the criteria for doing the op.
