Hi guys, well i finally have my appointment with the Orthopedic clinic, what can i expect on my first visit?

I have already had a MRI scan, will they do another one or use the one i have already.

my results are there is a little cartildage thinning and irregularity of the medial patellar facet with bony signal change. What does this mean?

mild cartilage thinning is also seen in the medial femoral condyle with a little bony oedema of the promimal tibia what does this mean?

I also have radial tear at the meniscal root with slight extrusion

I have it really difficult to walk even short distances for the last 6 months, i couldnt walk very far before that but this is worse than ever..I cannot stand for more than a few mins without getting pain in my knees, behind my knees, in my hips and lower back pain. I have always put this down to my fibromyaliga

can anyone put my MRI results into english for me please :)

I'm sorry, I don't speak medic, kittymedaughter, and it's always dangerous to attempt to translate from a language one doesn't speak fluently. I've seen several orthopaedic surgeons in my time, usually when they've been deciding whether or not an op is required. Personally, I doubt they'd do another MRI - the one you had was presumably for them to judge by.

I suggest you just go in as relaxed as possible, see what they have to say and ask any questions that come to mind. I hope it goes well.

    Hi Kitty
I answered your thread this morning and it has done a runner...what I said was...make sure you have a good think about things you want to ask...and make a list of questions....sorry I cant help with the results....I remember googling mine and being even more confused, I do wish you well with everything, and please let us know how you get on.

In that case, you're one up on me, kittymedaughter. I'm on my 3rd knee replacement and I've still no idea where all the bits are. Just as long as the surgeon knows, I'm happy.

Thanks Barbara, that is a good tip, I want to know a few things and what recovery will be if i do go ahead with the op, cannot really afford to be off work for too long

Ouch - Sticky 3 knee replacements, in how many years? how painful for you

First 2 in 1981. I still have one of them. The other was replaced 2 years ago. Every one's been brilliant.
