Right....I need to ramble so here goes!!! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (by my gp) a week ago. Done alot of reading about this illness and it says that you get pain in join areas but no swelling, stay with me Gp did all upper pressure points, which hurt, but none below the hips, you still with me well for a couple of days now I have been having pain, pins and needles in my ankles and obvious swelling especially in my right one so what to do? Do I go back and see gp (I did tell her that I had pains in my ankles and knees but she did not examine them). Advice needed please. x Dee x

Hi,
Don't know much about fibromyalgia but I would say it's best to get it checked and go back to GP.
Sorry can't be more help.
Good luck,

I honestly don't know what's best for you to do but if you are perturbed then go and see the GP again, hopefully he/she can clarify what is going on and put your mind at rest. Let us know how you get on, yes? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

By coming on this forum has made most of us realise how hard it is is to diagnose what kind of Arthur we have, and then there are others painful complain like fibro, I think you should go back and show them or take pics of the swelling, it is possible to have both arthur and Fibro.
I do wish you well with it, and let us know how you get on xLove

I think Barbara's advice is good, Deedeeitsme. Take photos of the swelling. You can then either make another appointment with your GP or wait until you have to go again if you don't feel too bad right now, but you will have evidence of what's going on.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Deedeeitsme, Thats not a ramble, you should hear me.
All advice about going back to G.P is what I would say too, there are consultants who specialise in fibro and yes you can have arther and fibro, they think i may have.
am seeing specialist at end of month.
Anyhow, all the best and DO go back.xxClare xx0 -
Hi Dee,
Thats not a ramble and even if it were this is the pace to have them
I think if it were me I would be asking for a rumo's referral.... I think you have every right to ask and these things are best sorted by a consultant. Your GP should be willing to send you to see one.
Hang in there and with luck you will get a confirmed diagnoses but Barbara's suggestion of pic is really good cus often the swelling isn;t there the day you are seen. Hope the gp will refer you. Cris x0 -
The photos are a great idea. I think I will ask for a rhumy referral just to try and get a proper diagnosis. I will ring doc's and make an appointment to see my gp again (bet she's fed up of seeing me). My back is so sore tonight as well (my fault...cleaned the bathroom tiles) but it seems like there's no let up from this bloomin pain and it seems to be popping up everywhere now. x Dee x0

Hi Dee, I was diagnoised with Fibromyagia around 10yrs ago and ever since I've had it my G.P & Consultant have always told me to tell them of any new or more painful problems a.s.a.p. And if you can photograph it and as long as it is clear enough to show the problem that's great.
But you must go back as soon as you can and if the swelling is still there when you go that's even better. Hope this helps.0
