Feeling very sorry for myself ... Just got over a big flare and was feeling great today but now it looks like I've broken one, possibly two toes. Tripped and stubbed my foot on a rather solid lump of wood.
Toes are agony, black and twice the size they should be
DH has no sympathy, after inspecting them and saying yes looks broken, nothing you can do it's just toes ... He's buggered off and left me :x typical medic!!!
Had painkillers earlier and now nursing a small glass of Ginger wine to cheer me up
Chrissie

Yes, Chrissie, I'm pretty sure he's right and, as a wife, I know that makes things infinitely worse.

The reason I'm on familiar ground with broken toes is that, when I broke a hip and refused to go into hospital (I wasn't aware it was broken at the time - only that I couldn't stand on that leg.) Mr SW became so frustrated he kicked the kitchen bin. Which was full. So we both went to A&E, me with my broken hip and him with his broken toe. I often wondered if they thought there might be a connection.

    Hi Chrissie,

He is right to a point  They could xray and confirm it but they don't do much abut them excet strap them up to the toe next to them... so you could try that? Mine were done with surgical tape and that helped to keep them in the right place.

Also, I know you will know this, elevate your foot higher than your hip and keep off them as much as you can till the swelling goes dow. If it doesn't go down though please get them looked at at cas. Hope they will soon stop hurting and got any spare wine there  Cris xx

Aaaaaaaaaaagh! Isn't it horrid when unsympathetic males are right, but that does not excuse the lack of cuddles, making of tea and purchasing of chocolate or even garage flowers. I am so sorry Chrissie, keep up with the dullers, I guess most of RICE will apply, ring your GP maybe or NHS Direct, but I think it is only time that will sort this. Brace yourself: (((())) DD

Sorry to hear about your toes Chrissie

However, my sympathy is also pretty grim in relation to anything as well, but I think all medics are like that! My hubby gets nowt, but I did have lots when he got a brain tumour last January. A nurse may actually have less, we often at work, when I did used to work, giggle a little at our OHs moaning at their colds, coughs etc.

Put those feet up and hope that he does actually strap those poorly toes up for you. Perhaps if he had the same....... You could get your evil revenge one day?!! Hehehe!

Ouch! Even stubbing a toe is agony.
Poor you - can you strap them up?

Hope it eases a bit soon.
