Well its o4:25 and for me sleep is not an option as my mate "pain" refuses to go away. It is a very low time at this hour as it is quite lonely and full of torment. Two parts of the body are flaring at the same time now and each is trying to outdo the other. Persoally i wish they wouldnt bother. Well thats my bit of misery for now, i do wish you all well and hope your life has peace within it.
stevan.

Oh dear, another one who had a rough night - I was reading, trying to distract myself from it all and it nearly worked. Pain - it's a nightmare, isn't it? Unremitting, unrelenting, so demanding of our attention but - and I know this is feeble - it will pass, all things do, the bad as well as the good. It will ease in time, every minute that passes is a minute closer to it easing, keep up with the pain relief so that that can do its job as well as possible and I hope you feel better soon. DD

Ah, the wee hours, shift. I'm never quite sure whether the pain really is worse at that time or just seems it. Not that it makes much difference. Especially if you've taken all your allotted pain meds. If I'm up to it I get up & have a cup of tea but tea-making can seem like several hurdles too many. Sometimes there are people on Chit Chat. I hope you have a better night tonight, Stevan.

    Stevan

Must have been a night for it, I too had hardly any sleep, my shoulders just don't want to ease up the last couple of weeks, they're so sore, just cannot get comfortable on either side and keep waking with the pain.

It's a flippin' nightmare this arthritis business, could really do without it. I've actually forgotten what it was ever like not to be in pain. Some people just don't know how lucky they are yet still whinge on about minor complaints !

Here's to a better night tonight xxx

    Stevan
I sympathise completely, since Christmas sleep just has not happened and its all beginning to catch up with me.
It does seem to be common amongst a few here recently.
Hope you manage to catch some tonight.

Hi Stevan, I really feel for you, I hate it when Arther decides 'right you've had it good long enough' and sends out the flare up's and sleep deprevation! When I have a bad night and can't sleep I'm moved to the guest room by O.T so I don't keep him up! I have books and a word search book on the side table so that keeps me busy.
I'm lucky we have the extra rooms upstairs as I don't know what I would do. I really hope you manage to get a full night sleep soon and the flare up eases off soon for you as I know how bad both things can be.

    Bad night here too!

I hate it when I can't sleep because of the pain yet know I won't be safe on the stairs to go downstairs very twisty stairs). Grrr. Nothing worse than being exhausted yet wide awake because of the pain and that you have had your maximum tablets.

I hate that others suffer too but it is also reassuring to know we are not alone.

I hope you have an easier day and a much better night tonight.

    Dear Stevan

l have had a thought...there used to be a thread on chit chat called night owls (there was another 'early birds' too), if you could resurrect it it might help.

All those in pain or just not sleeping well used to come on and chat to each other?

I hope those two naughty bits of body stop fighting....m04140.gif

    Tell 'em l said behave!!

and thank you for your kind wishes

    Love

hi Stevan.. I'm ashamed to admit it but I'm another one guilty of the catch up sleep. Had about an hour last night, ended up falling asleep again this morning around ten maybe, had a couple of hours. I'm also having another bloody flare up. Seem constant these days.
Anyway matey, hope things ease soon and tonight is a good one for ya.

I had a bad night last night with wrist pain keeping waking me up throughout the night. It's so unfair that lack of sleep makes everything worse, but pain stops a decent night's sleep - it's a vicious circle. Not in much pain today actually, just tired!

I definitely think that you shouldn't feel guilty for sneaking in a few cat naps. Far better to do that than to push through the tiredness and end up feeling worse. Nowt wrong with daytime naps anyway - just pretend you're Spanish! Hope everyone's flare ups ease up soon.

I like your thinking. Breathe it softly though. Any whiff of alcohol and this lot'll be hammering at your door for a party.

Oh I so sympathise, sleep and I having been relative strangers for several years now.

Because my eyes aren't very good at the mo, I have recently re-discovered the joy of audiobooks and I find that they can be a real comfort in the wee small hours. My husband bought me a small mp3 player which I put under the pillow and turn on and off as needed during the night. Mine has a sleep timer so it can be set to turn itself off after a while so if you do drop off, you don't wake up with it still playing in your ear which can be a bit disconcerting. I have found that there are some brilliant audiobooks/radio plays etc available to download these days and I usually find that I get so lost in what I am listening to that I doze off, even if only for a short while. It also helps to distract me from worrying about life, the universe and everything in the middle of the night, which I tend to do otherwise.

As for catching up on sleep during the day - I am of the opinion that when you don't sleep at night, you just have to sleep when you can and I no longer feel guilty about daytime napping.

    Thinking of you.

    Tilly,
Yes, audiobooks are totally fab aren't they? I am a real lover of Bill Bryson - I love his books and his audio books, read by him, are so fascinating they help me switch off my brain and I often drop off. they are exceptional value as one book seems to last me ages! I'm 'reading' his new one at the moment about the 'home' and it's brilliant. It definitely helps me when I'm having a bad night.

    Hi Stevan,

Oh I so so sympathise with you I have a few nights like that n its horrible isn't it?

Somehow makes everything feel worse actually and being tired.... not a good one is it?

Hope tonight you are having a better night and sleep well. Cris x

    Hey Tilly and Ruth,

Right there with you re there audio books.... My eyes are shot as is a bit obvious sometimes

I don;t know if its the same everywhere but I have had a word with the Blind Association and they run a talking book library here. Might be something that could be of use to you both if they have the same thing in your areas? Sleep well you both. Cris xx

Oh Ruth keep meaning to say I been following your blog and thank you  xx

I actually feel human now LOL. I have just read all your comments about not sleeping and I was beginning to feel that I was the only one going through it. Now I dont feel so bad.

The only thing that I am dreading is going to work in two hours and then trying to stay awake while I am there. This is the first all nighter I have pulled since working there.

I might just have to curl up under my desk for a few hours so that I can catch up. Just give me a nudge if you hear me snoring

Things wouldnt have been so bad had it not been for the hamster going all night, the dog and the husband snoring and then just as I was starting to think that I might get some shut eye (albeit for an hour) the gerbil woke up and started running on her wheel. Maybe I should have chosen quieter pets :???:

Hope you all have a good day today and I might catch you on the next shift!!
