Should I be worried??

As some of you know I've had a sinus on my foot for two years now which periodically breaks down. Monday I got the result from my 3rd xray and Dr confirmed osteomyelitis he said he would write to the orthopods. Yesterday to my amazement I got a letter with my appointment to see them on 23rd Jan!!
I expected to wait at least 3 months. The thing is, should I be worried that they have got me in so quick?
Anita.

Worried? Why? For once the Health Service is reacting as it should and if I were you I would be pleased. Let's face it, it makes a pleasant change from the waiting-for-four-months-only-to-find-the-referral-has-been-lost system that they usually operate. Let's hope they can sort it for you, once and for all, yes? I wish you well. DD

    Hi DD and Toni,

Don't get me wrong I am pleased just surprised and worried that it's worse than they are telling me.
After all I was told it was infected over a year ago by the surgeon when I was in hospital with the elbow infection. She also said the only way it would get sorted is to have it done surgically. I have been tellng my chiropodist/rhuemy nurse & Dr this for the last 18 months but nobody was listening. So my concern was now it's gone on soooooooo long is it worse than it could have been if they acted sooner!!

    Hi Anita,

I think you don't need to worry at all. They sometimes don't have long waiting lists and it's good you are being seen cus it could well help.

Like Toni said I too will be thinking of you on the 23rd and so hope they do something to help. Cris x

At a guess, tiggernut, I'd say it's precisely because they've got it so wrong for so long that they're now wanting to get it done so quickly - not because there is anything for you to worry about but because there might be stuff for them to worry about if you put in a complaint.

If it were me, I'd just make the most of it.
