Have been diagnosed with OA in feet, ankles and knees couple years ago. Since before that I have had weak hands and pain in wrists. When I try to open jars etc. or use can opener, the wrist pain is immense. Have often wondered if I've broken it. All you experts, do you think this is OA or summat else?

Yup, I agree we all have a degree of expertise but I reckon that's mostly on ourselves, cloud9. In no way can we attempt a diagnosis on such matters, your GP is the one to advise you but yes, given that you have it elsewhere I guess it could be a possibility: does the wrist pain etc feel similar to the other? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Alas, Cloud9, all we are experts in is pain. The rest is just guesswork. Yours fits into my usual answer of might be/might not be. I guess it could be OA. It might be RA. It might just be you have weak hands and wrists and some strengthening exercises might help. Have you put this to your GP? If so, what was the answer? If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

As DD and Sticky have said we can not tell you what you have as we are not medically trained, but we can sympathise with pain and emotions and support you where necessary,
You been back to see Gp?..xxTracyxx0 -
No but I will when I see him next time. Thanks all xSue (Cloud9)0

I understand the situation your in at the moment Cloud9 I have recently started getting alot of pain and joint stiffness in my hands, I'm finding it hard to lift the kettle and pans, and when I use my walking crutches my hands and wrist hurt, I had also broken my little finger and not even know about it! I went to my G.P and she examined me and said I had Osteoporosis in my hands, and my weird shaped little finger she thought would never beable to be put back into shape!
But before anything else I would go and see your G.P and see what they think, I was worried about going and what might be the problem but was relieved when she told me because it was just another part of me falling to bits!!0 -
Hi Cloud9
Opening jars etc can be a real strain on your wrists and hands I have bought gadgets that can help you open objects more easily and I wouldn't be without them.
I hope your wrists feel better soon and the gp can tell you what is wrong with it,
Love Juliepf x0
